Description:
80s inspired rock n roll / pop. Time to reflect on the good ol' days when music was actually played by hitting things other than a PC keyboard.
Please. It's our first outing on MacJams. Be kind.

A polished, well laid out track with some great playing.
Great vocals.
Deacon Blue meets Let me entertain you.
Look forward to your next piece
cheers

Not quite got the hang of this commenting yet. Don't mind being compared to bands that have actually made a career out of it.
Thanks for your support.

Piano is awesome!!! Your voice is spectacular. Sorry to do the comparison but you sound like a mix between Hothouse Flowers and Collective Soul. Not a bad thing dude. I really look forward to hearing more from you. Welcome to Macjams!!!
Re-al
Like the Hothouse example.
thanks for checking us out.
Re-al
Indeed it is. Thanks for being the first to comment. Think we're gonna like it here!

Powerful in all departments with the strong vocal leading the way. Awesome intro to your music. Bass always there with such clarity behind an always loved combo of organ & piano.
You got to clue us in on your recording details( software equipment, mics etc.) and a listing of lyrics.
Welcome to MacJams!
Re-al
Minimal software - mixed & mastered the old school way.
Thanks for stopping by.

Well then, welcome to MacJams! Incredible keys on this one. Vocals are awesome and the production of the piece is spot-on. What an excellent first offering to MJs. As kingbee said, we're going to have to keep an eye you guys!
Re-al
Keys were guested - this was a new experiment for us.
Glad you like it.

Strong vocals. An overall great sound. Very tight. Sensational first post. Keep 'em coming.

you guys sound great and all together here. cool to finally hear what you guys are about. welcome.
i like the upbeat revival energy.
solid from all the playing and composition.
Re-al
Thanks for that observation. We like to think we play as a tight-knit unit.

Excellently crafted piece of heaven... loved the boogie woogie piano/organ bits in there (a "Jif"ted piano player). Super guitar work, and really rich and strong vox and nicely-fitting lyric writing. Drums kick arse, bass work really pushes this along. Production is quite polished on this. I can't really hear anything to be critical of. Loved all the little details in this, very pro-sounding. Talk about bursting into Macjams with a blockbuster, welcome to the party! Oh, and love the artwork too! Anything you CAN'T do? :-)
ttfn,

Very kind to hear that! Thank you for listening and taking time to comment.
Anything we can't do? Yes. Get a deal!

to have you folks here - what a touch of professional sounding material to share out of the chute! Thanks!
I one nit-pick, though.... How long 'til your next song? :)

Ha ha! Love that line! Next song due when we get over the reaction to this one!
Hope you come back for more! Thanks.

.. kinda Pearl Jam-ish vocals, really top notch & excellent .. with more than a shade or two of 'Hothouse flowers' groove from Jif .. the keys at the start reminded me of something else I can't quite place..more 80s dance .. the lead guitars have some 80s glam rock influence .. like CC Deville (Poison) at times .. then more bluesy .. but all this is academic .. the sum of the parts is awesome .. great rocker... this would be a blast live- where can get tickets?
Re-al
Playing live would be difficult at the moment as Rod is in France while we are in the UK.
Kind words. Really don't mind being compared to bands that have made a decent career out of their craft - thanks again.
J.A.Stewart
Enthusiastic vocal and an upbeat tempo help make this a very pleasant trip.
Nicely done... Welcome to MacJams. ;)

Good to know our retro sound is ticking some boxes. Happy that you enjoyed our song.

Great sounding vocal for a start! "Revival" is the word I was after - thanks Vic - the piano gives it that southern church sound (like, near Portsmouth). I have a bit of a reputation at MJ for saying what I think about production, and while the individual tracks sound great, I think you could tweak the mix a fair bit to get a better sound. First thing I'd suggest is that the vocals come forward a few steps on the sound stage - they are so strong, yet seem to be a little hidden in the mix. I'd also suggest a bit more of a spread of the other instruments - panning the piano and guitar right and left a little more - the piano seems to be the main area of need, but I'd be shifting the lead out too. You've done good stuff with some vocal panning and some guitar hits, but apart from the drums (and the organ), nearly everything seems to be coming from the centre.
I could be wrong, and I am noticing that more and more I'm panning a little too wide myself. Might be worth a shot.
What software/OS are you using to record?
Top tune!
Welcome to MJ!
Neil
Re-al
that we paid for to hopefully get that pro-sounding mix that none of us could have managed. Not too clued up on what was used, that was left in the hands of 'an expert'..?
If only you'd been there, ha ha!
Thanks for checking us out. Love your 100 Days, Neil.

I am a fan! Everything in this song just comes together so perfectly. Thanks for sharing guys.
Re-al
Glad to have you on board as a fan! Pleasure to share it, feedback means a lot to us.

Ha...this is great...puts me right back into the 8th row center of Springsteen's first tour as a lead in to, I'm pretty sure, The Grateful Dead.
I love this sound. Very well done and tight, tight, tight!
Re-al
Very pleased with your comment; so glad you like this sound. Thank you for your kind words. Appreciated.
tempie
man this is great. love how you don't pursue any one genre - a little honky tonk, little rave/gospel, little anthem/stadium. very cool! you remind me of those "spiritual" bands in the 80's like the Alarm and Simple Minds. vocals remind me a bit of Live, as do the lyrics. Like the soloing too. Nice work, can't wait to hear what else you've got in store...
Re-al
As has been said already, it's no bad thing to be compared to those who have actually made a career out of it. As far as genre is concerned, if people like it, then for us it has to be pop(ular) and that's the only reason to have chosen that banner.
Otherwise, it's just good music, hopefully.
Appreciate you checking us out.

I visited Newcastle this summer, but unfortunately didn't get time to visit The Angel of the North. As I'm from Stavanger, Norway I'm familiar with the artist Antony Gormley as he has been around putting his art here:) (http://mappery.com/maps/Antony-Gormley-Broken-Column-Stavanger.png)
Your music is refreshing and real. Dig the energy and the musical skills pouring from this band. Is this done these days or something recorded some years ago? You mention Rod being in France... who are you guys..? Faces doing something when Rod is away? This is pretty awesome%u2026:) More please - you have a new fan!
Re-al
Well spotted that man - first to mention "The Angel" Can't play live at the moment as Rod is working dans la France for a bit.
This was recorded just before he left and we're polishing up some others whilst he's away, Don't know too much about the technical side of it all or when we'll get more up, but we'll stick around as it's a cool place to hang out with like minded people.
Ha ha! - Rod & the Faces....nice one!
Lennon714
This is great. Vocals have touches of Andy Bell from Erasure - an absolute favorite of mine. All in all a great tune. Welcome!
Re-al
Never had Andy Bell before, but as he's a great vocalist, we'll take that!
Thanks!
tokai
an amazing introduction to mc jams to me. And it sounds like you deserve the response you got too. It's an 80's tune and why not, agree with your observation. Did you play every thing here? Your voice is very strong and with a strong back up to power it up. Great job. BTW love that re-al photo on your home page
Re-al
The response to Angel has been amazing from you guys here at MacJams - so kind, everybody. There is some outstanding music here.
There's 4 of us (and a guest on keys). This is a studio recorded demo we made. Our guitarist Rod is in France at the moment, so we can't play live, so we're polishing up some tunes that have been laid down and will put more up for sure.
The feedback has been great. Really enjoying it here.
Thanks for checking us out!
