Description:
My girlfriend and I went camping two summers ago. I made a joke about us getting a little "pup tent love" in, and she thought that should be a song. So here it is. Everything in the song is true. Mostly. My first vocal contribution. No loops I didn't make, 'cept for a little shaker action. Comments welcome!

Lyrics:
Pack all the gear in the car.
There's not a spot we can go that's too far from here.
Pick a direction and drive
So far outside of the city to feel alive.
We'll camp out under the trees.
No one around we can do as we damn well please.
I brought some freeze-dried ice cream.
We'll cook on a fire and we'll drink from a stream.
We'll lay back on the ground,
Watch the sun going down
As the Earth spins around;
So profound, Pup tent love.
Zip up the flap and tuck in,
A cozy down cocoon pulled up to the chin.
It's dark in here but it's warm,
I can't see her face but I sure feel her form.
'neath the big, open sky,
With the stars streaming by,
As she lets out a sigh,
No one's shy in their pup tent love.
Embers dying, moon is rising
Something moving in the night.
Just outside now, hold my breath now
If we don't move we'll be alright.
Wake up early, someone's been here.
Our provisions all been strewn.
Across the campsite, tiny footprints
Another victim of the evil raccoon.
(The bastards stole my freeze-dried ice cream!)
Grabs the scruff of my shirt,
Pulls me down to the dirt,
As she says with a flirt,
"Don't get hurt, get in the pup tent, love."
Pup tent love
Pup tent love
Pup tent love
Pup tent love

But, there's something about the timing that's buggin' me.
Cool tune though. Wish more folks would type in their
lyrics. Adds to the overall presentation. Thanks for
sharing.

Thanks for the comments. I'd like more specificity about timing issues, if you
have it. I didn't post the lyrics because I'd like them to be a surprise in the
song. Perhaps in a few days I'll add them.

For some reason I can't get any songs d'loaded to listen to them today. But, as I recall, the issue I percieved was in the delivery of the vocals late in the song. Sorry I can't be more specific. I did like this song though. Great folk sound. And again, good feeling tune about a fun topic. Take care.

Ambivalent? Well...yes and no.

fun tune &mdash 11/15/04 - 08:26:28 PM
sounds like Joe Jackson wearing a They Might Be Giants
costume. Regarding the timing Skipper referred to, the
only thing I heard was the second time you sing "pup tent
love" not as tight as the first, regardles, I felt the form on
this one!

They Might Be Giants = awesome. The smallest comparison is the biggest
compliment. That spot you speak of is a little wonky, but as I was working on
the song, it grew on me, so I kept it in. Thanks for listening

Nof sure what else to say &mdash 11/19/04 - 06:05:38 AM
But I like it. Very pro sound. Reminds me of Barenaked
ladies.

I would count BNL as an influence. Been a fan for a very long time - since a
friend from Buffalo introduced me in the early 90's.

Wonderful. Upbeat. Crisp, well blended vocals. Oh yeah. I
am being schooled by this one.

I would only say that some words are being hurried or
chopped off, esp. at ends of phrases. (e.g. sure feel her
form."). I'd also like to hear a little warmer sound globally.
Maybe it's my amplifier and headphones, but I'd like to
hear more bottom coming through.

I sure like the instrumentation. I love the "embers dying"
bridge...it has a splendid progression from soft to
exclamatory.

Is Masterverb a GB plug-in or a standalone program?

Thanks for the comments. Yeah, some of the lyrics are cut off. I'm trying to
school myself in recording vocals (mic placement, monitoring, etc) and there
came a point where I just wanted to post the sucker. There isn't a lot of
bottom, true. I was having trouble getting a good mix and had to pull the
bottom out some to prevent some clipping. And thanks about the bridge. It's
what pulled the song together for me. Masterverb is an AU plug-in. I think I
got it from one of McBoy's forum posts. You can get it at http://

Like the natural fade-in...very jazzy. Love the lyrics! Very
"Postal-Service" but deffinitely unique! Nice job!

neat story, the music completes the picture nicely. diggin
the jazzy organ thing. there were a few places where i thot
the volume on background elements were too low. hmm..
