Lyrics:
Miss the wayYou used to say
I got it right
Without a fight
Now that you're gone
I'm on my own
Right or wrong
I'm gone, gone
Drifting away
So long
hey-hey
First you said
It hurt your head
To be around
It's tired ground
Now that the chairs cold
I feel that I'm
Worn and old
I'm gone, gone
Drifting away
So long
hey-hey

Yeah, it's definitely a mix of feelings, here.
It was originally a dialog. If I can redo it, I'll probably separate the roles a bit.
Thanks for stopping, man!

really cool. this is like something i would purchase and then play to death. really interesting, like that guitar solo. my only nit pick is I wish i could hear the vox a little louder as they are so friggin good.really cool song man.
Doadars Uncle
I'm glad you like it! It took so long to piece this one together with the few minutes spent here and there, I'm glad to have it in this state. But I would love to get back to the vocals. You're right! They're just kind of thrown in there.
Thanks for the comment!

Hey uncle - what gorgeous guitar and your voice is oh so soothing. Always hard to say goodbye.
Doadars Uncle
Thanks for the kind words! And thanks for the visit. Much appreciated.

Wonderfully heartfelt w/a trip down memory lane into early Bob Dylan/Eric Clapton stuff. Very nicely done!
Doadars Uncle
Thanks for the listen! Happy travels!

Folk Guitar on this one. I really enjoyed it. As Mike said I think the vox could be turned up on this a little bit but other than that a nice piece. Thanks.
Doadars Uncle
Glad for your visit! I'll take this one back into the shop, when I get time and drive. Happy you like it!

Got some really nice voicing out of that acoustic which sounds great by the way. Not sure where the title came from, it's not mentioned in the lyrics at all, but that a small nit. Nice clean recording on the vocal and other instrumentation too.
Thanks for sharing this one Doug.
Be well and be cool,
Ed

Always nice...
Yeah, the title is more of a distant implication of something that was brilliant but has quickly faded. Although the lyrics imply familiarity, perhaps.
Hey, I switched with my work computer, lately. It sounded like a wind tunnel. So I recorded live tracks on my wife's imac.
For the vocals I used my usual $25 mic but added a $5 shotgun I got from gov't surplus recently. It picked up the crispy highs. I forgot to use it on the vocals. Next time!

A hint of MJ's Selters in this (a good thing). I love the way you do these laid-back songs Doug. Vocal sounds great and the guitarist sounds like he's off in his own world (as does the vocalist) - what? Oh its the same person!
:)
Lovely stuff!

You are cracking me up, right now!
I'm always in my own world, or someone's own world...
Thanks for the stop by!

with some great guitar playing. Made me think of Wild World with the chord progression as well as a few other song in the anoles of acoustic folk rock history.
Great going on this. Has a wonderful feeling.

Cat Stevens, one of my old favorites! I'm thinking of updating my collection with some Yusuf!
It's been eluded to, but it was a real effort to change it from "Lay Lady, Lay."
Sincere thank you for stopping by!
Vic Holman
cool one Doug.
reminds of very very early David Bowie, when he was starting out and unknown.
Doadars Uncle
That means a lot! One of my "Heroes."

This is one of those tunes that gets better by the minute, thanks

Nice vocal, and excellent guitar on this. I really like the sound on the acoustic. Vocal is very laid-back but expressive - makes me think of Lou Reed in parts (which is a good thing!) Lyrics are very well done, pithy and telling. Very cool. Nicely done. Peace.

...really pulled my heart...beautiful piece...

I'm listening on my laptop speakers, and on those, the vocals are kinda buried, which is too bad, because the lyrics are good, and your vocal delivery is unique. The 'drifty' part is nicely conveyed, Doug. Glad you put those stolen minutes to good use, here!

.. mellow to relax me after a hectic day ...

It sounds like it might be a lost Lennon/Bowie song from 1974. It was a treat. Thanks.

your warm voice and the laid back guitar is just the perfect combo. Made me smile, even tho lyrically it seemed perhaps reflective as well. The Beatles did that to me
