Description
Put together this little piece together last night after a long day of writing for a final teaching portfolio coming due this Wednesday. I sat down, plugged in the mandolin into my Tube Screamer, lined it to the volume pedal and then a delay.
I liked the musical curtain that started surfacing, so I hit record and saved some of it. Exploring some of the ideas I'd been learning in my latest lessons, I structured the shell of the experiment around 1-3-5s of a G major scale and began sliding in some C scale patterns to disrupt and counterbalance the earlier sounds. Came out sorta interesting.
I'm starting to get the "Inventions" names/numbers mixed up now that I'm up in the double digits, so I decided to start naming them. As I began composing the piece, my mind's eye drifted to a series of pulleys slowly drifting up and back, suspended from a high ceiling in a corridor - occasionally hitting one another or clanging, but each making a distinct sound as they moved.
Or maybe I was hallucinating.
Another all mandolin piece.
