Say it ain't so. I thought rock would never die.
That being said, this is an excellent mix, as near as I can tell over laptop speakers. The guitar blends right into the keyboards like it's the same instrument.
If i were to change anything, it would shortening the sustain of the guitar (I think) where it outlasts the chord change. Around the two minute mark is an example. It seems to create a dissonance, but maybe that's what your going for, this being post-rock and all!
I kept expecting to here some wailing dinosaur guitars rearing there heads. Oh well, maybe the lead guitar was the first one to go extinct during rock armageddon . I might just have to jam to this to satisfy the craving.

I was taking a bit of inspiration from the likes of Isis and Old Man Gloom.

love the beats, very interesting. I like this very much, being an electro head I am often put off by the Rock label (alternative or otherwise) but I am really glad you commented on my track so that I came here to listen to this. Really nice textures that you have created here. Inspired from the Welsh landscape, was it? I have never heard of Isis (except for the Egyptian goddess) or Old Man Gloom. Nice one Smokey.

Inspired more by my present state of mind I think! The image is from a trip to Norway... I will have a listen to more of your stuff. There just isn't enough time in the day to be on this site and actually have a life is there? I used to visit Plymouth as a kid - Mutley Plain to be precise...
Diviner
on Mutley Plain. In the 14 years I have lived in Plymouth, most of it has been at Mutley. Man its changed. Since I'm married I can spend more time on my music studio then I would being single. But this place does have a pull.

last time I was in Plymouth was very early eighties, it must have changed a hell of a lot since then. I used to like the area around the library and, of course, the sea front.
lavalamp
Like the beats that you used on this. Kind of a eerie feel. Could be used in a John Carpenter film or a cool Sci-fi.
Cool stuff,
Dave

Yes a lot of my stuff ends up sounding a bit like a soundtrack..
mudmen
me of bowie. sound and vision era
smokey bacon jnr
That's a real complement! That's my fave Bowie era..

Nice groove, I can hear a voice or a git over this.. Cool mix I like it.. Cheers

Yes, I agree - my solo playing is not up to much,so our friend PeteNB may have a go. As for vocals, I was thinking of shouts a la Isis.
stevel
I like the epic sound on this...would sound cool with some vocals on it too I reckon. Nice guitar work and a cool groove too
Cheers

Cheers - you always give my stuff a listen, and I appreciate that. I will check out your recent stuff. There don't seem to be enough hours in the day!!

This would be the ideal soundtrack.

Very evocative.
Cool piece.

Blade Runner - what a great movie. I'd like to do the soundtrack to the first Battlestar Galactica movie they do - well , you can dream.

Great track, satisfying on many levels, and to my mind, floating in and out of several genres quite nicely.
It brought to mind the odd night club or two in a strange way (listen to smokestack by Underworld to get the flavour i refer to here)
Nicely recorded too.
smokey bacon jnr
I like the idea of hybridizing genres and Underworld are a favourite too.
EEFliess
very nice milky guitar work there, and a good interplay between it and the synthwork!
smokey bacon jnr
Thanks for the comment - I use synthesised elements in Guitar Rig 3.
awigze
but better - love the nuances and the wall-o-sound.
smokey bacon jnr
That 's a very thing to say! I was aiming for a massive wall of sound. And Keane are a guilty pleasure too...
anomalous
