Description:
Splinter recorded live at Goodbye Blue Monday 11/24/2008 in Bushwick Brooklyn NYC. Recorded on Zoom H2 (accidentally aimed backwards - towards the house not the stage) and Canon ZR950 video camera (aimed towards the stage of course - but with all the slamming limiting that comes with cheap camcorders). The result might have been a happy accident - but I'll never know. I needed the video sound for high end that was missing from the H2. Both recordings were mixed for video soundtrack then brought into GB08 for some EQ tweaking.

... are you really like a 17 year old pretending to be a lot older.... you sound like a kid on this ( I mean that in a good way!). Short sharp shock is right - you guys have enough energy to power the eastern seaboard.
Oh, and firsties!

Thanks a lot for dropping by and pumping up this old guy. As I was posting this I was thinking about how much fun it is to play out again - and that I hope I'm still doing when I'm 60 - which is only six years off.
BTW - that was at the end of our set - it takes a little while to get warmed up. We also had a false start. I'm playing all down-strokes - and it ain't as easy as it used to be.

it was cool to watch the streaming video of the performance. now I'll have a permanent blurry vision of you guys every time i hear a splinter song.
You did great Kevin, very good stage presence.
bud
at our myspace - the link is above. Two cameras - very sophisticated. lol
Can't believe you watched that stream - musta been pretty sketchy. Thanks for dropping by today - hope you're enjoying the holiday.

Mozart, but it sure is power-packed. I'm always big on understanding the lyrics, but couldn't here... :( I'll bet you lose 6 or 7 lbs every time you do one of these gigs...Plenty of jumping about and, as Steve says [above] enough energy to light up the Eastern seaboard. I, too, hope you are rockin' when you're 60. Hey. Why not?! [I envy you the fun of a live performance. I haven't done that in quite a while.)
Peace.

were the bomb. BTW the lyrics are printed in the studio version of this song from last year. It's not a bad way to get some exercise. Thanks for commenting.

one more reason not to walk out the door, then everything goes nuts... I can only wish I was havin a beer in the back of that room!
bud

...stuff like this jolts me back to why I wanted to create music in the first place. Well.... to impress girls... but that's long gone. To be cool..... ditto double time. To feel a big honkin' amp THUMP when you switch it on and feel the hammer of Thor in your hands when you're about to play... yeah, that's still there. To catch fire with your bare hands and spit it out the guitar....
Well, at least I can switch the amp on and hear it THUMP.
I never sounded this 17 when I was 17. Beer for everyone!
bud
I thought I was playing a delicate zither - lol

hell and yes. When I get home I'm totally checking out thevideo on myspace. well done!
bud
hope you like the vid.

kevin, this is totally rocking. kind of reminds me of early sonic youth in a way. you even kind of look like steve shelley in the vid. nice danalectro, gotta love those lipstick pick ups. what i really love is the music stand in front of you while you're singing. classic. i guess i'm reviewing the video, but as for the tune: everyone sounds great, love the drums and the slide, and just a great punk tune. hope you're playing next time i get to new york.
bud
to remind me where I am - it has a gps on it and a clock so I know where we are and how long we've been playing. It sucks getting older.
thoddi
Some sparkling energies here. Fab performance! I was expecting some stage diving - very cool:) The video was a cool treat. You must have a cool time with that band. I wrote cool a lot here , but that was what it was:)
Ibstrat
is not only cool but exceptionally cool!
bud
My back could't handle stage diving
I play the Danny cause it's one of the lighter guitars out there that still looks cool - and I also happen to love it's sound.
tempie
been said but what I love about your music is that it is exactly what I wanted to sound like when I was fifteen, and to me every rock 'n roller is just trying to get back there, even the 17 yr. olds, when it wasn't 'music' it was everything that you ever wanted and didn't think you'd ever be lucky enough to get.
bud
that's very touching. I must be regressing at an alarming rate. Thanks for dropping by. Really.
guitapick
And I was THERE!!!
That's funny with the mic placement...worked well...play on, man...
bud
it really happened! Thanks for joining in the fun that night - you were awesome.

each time we have to play that one. We save for the end of the set - then I sit down and take a swig of Geritol. Glad you dropped by.

H2 recorded tunes. Good Stuff. I read your reply to Echo and it reminds me of Flea's bass instructional video when he talks about how when he was playing punk, it was all downstrokes, as he said.... "playing so hard your 'weiner' popped off." HA!
