Description:
Here's some Luna Soul for you. Actually, it's an old, old song, written in the dark recesses of my youth about the fear of being scorched by love. I relearned it and rerecorded it recently. The lyrics are immature but hopefully you'll find something universal in the song. We've all been singed... yet yearn for more. Prepare for a feeding....
Lyrics:
Taste the Fire I lived my life in hopes of danger
there's nothing that I wouldn't do
and now that you're a stranger
I guess I'm bent on you
And I don't need the pain
but I've done it again
I know I'm starving babe
and I need to feed on you
I've never been so damn compelled to taste the fire
I'm consumed by appetite
If I want it, I need it, I'll get it, I'll breathe it
I'll become the fire
cos I'm posessed and burning white
And I don't need the pain
but I've done it again
I know I'm starving babe
and I need to feed on you
Glowing is the loneliness that swims inside my head
shoot it down - shoot it down
the hunger oh my hunger makes me want to scream
press it down - press it down
And I don't need the pain
but I've done it again
I know I'm starving babe
and I need to feed on you

...lounge song!!! but a very mellow one. What a wonderful job you've done in arranging this, and your singing is smooooooothe throughout. Very nice production and a most pleasant listen. The guitar licks cookin' in the background are really pleasant...Nice to hear this "sound" and especially your controlled singing. [There's a line in "Antigone" by Sophocles from the "Ode To Love" that reads, "And Aphrodite laughs." Yep. We keep asking for the pain over and over again. The ancient Greeks had it right, apparently. ]
Peace.
Paul

The role of the chorus in Greek tragedy was to agonize over the repetition of our mistakes. Lounge it is then if you say so Maestro!
Feter
wow whata stronge skill there in writing ...your vocal
work so wonderfull ...what was that a flanger guitar ?
worked great with the bass and drums ..nice track my
friend ...thnx alot for sharin !!!!
LunaTrick
As you can tell... I kept my Flange pedals from the 80s!

and smooth. Like the deep smooth vocal going on here. This song glides along beautifully although i noticed a slight glitch at about 2mins 4seconds which slightly ruined the smoothness?! Maybe it's my ears or my playback method...
Cool tune
LunaTrick
I'm one for the odd glitch here and there... working on it though! Thanks for listening!

I like the smooth sound. There's a crackling in the verses. I like it a lot. Is it part of a sample or was it added later?
LunaTrick
That's actually part of the drum sample - I thought it sounded cool!

I love the smooth jazzy music and great singing, that belies (and makes up for) the slightly-trite teenage-style lyrics (I wrote a bunch of those too!) The lyrics aren't that bad, actually. There's a very soft scratchy set of clicks through a lot of the song, that almost sound like part of the percussion, but also sound like software buffer-overrun clicks, and tend to distract from the music. Nice guitar work, but great singing!

Perhaps we could do a cheesy lyric song together. As above, I kept the scratches because I thought they sounded good... perhaps not!

absolutely wonderful LT! Your voice is amazing....some of your vocals has a Mike Patton/Lovage feel to me. (He who is my favorite singer). Love this song - def going to my favorites.
LunaTrick
I'll check out more Patton... so I can bask in the compliment!

i just love your voice daniel! You're giving "lounge" a good name. Glad you pulled this one out of storage and relearned it - thanks!
LunaTrick
Getting comments from you is particularly pleasing!

this is totally a different direction from you. nice production (really like that clicking sound) and a great song too. so mellow and groovey. great job. your voice sounds really nice BTW.
LunaTrick
Coming from the king of groove, I'll take that!
egobandit
alot of soul n this like the stactic you got mixed in there.WHat is the sm58? Is that a drum machine? Anyway great great singing on this.. Excellent Oh yeah the art work is most cool :)
LunaTrick
SM58 is the old warhorse Mic... although better for live vocals. I have since replaced it with an ST55

I wasn't expecting this, but it was a real pleasant surprise. You have a "Barry White Ate Lenny Kravitz" cool voice on this tune. I think this genre suits you so well.
The dreamy almost bossa nova style guitars blend well with the WEEN-like distorted lead. Again, I was surprised.
Thanks for the download!
Bob

I've had the Barry White comment before - but never Lenny! I'll take it though...
TracyVosh
I've listened to this so many times, I'm beginning to sing along (without reading the lyrics). Had to tell ya I'm still enjoying this immensely.
LunaTrick
Is the greatest compliment I could every receive. Maybe you could record a version?
MarkHolbrook
this is excellent. Like Paul said, I could imagine this in a smokey lounge... Drink glasses clinking in the background...
Wonderful!
LunaTrick
Lets chink them together my friend!

Egggzelent SONGwriting/performing/mixing and all that makes this a tasty listen.
Love the sound of this.
It's rare that you hear something that can emote one's system the way this one does.
It takes me.
One of those tunes that reminds me of how lucky we are to have this site.
Just beautiful, man.
Thanks. Dion
LunaTrick
What a compliment... I was just checking your stuff out the other day, as I may be tempted to work on the open collab piece you posted. Thanks for listening!
