Ha! That was damn cool Rich. Nice job...head full of
clouds. I can see the sun stab through the cracks in the
sky as I fall back to earth....wonder how I got up there.... :) [ Reply to This ]

hey-thanks. my attempt at a slow song for a change, guess this is sorta 'soft
industrio'. clowds are a good place to be, i think [ Reply to This ]
Airy PhotoShop Visions (wink!) &mdash 11/14/04 - 12:11:29 PM
Very interesting ambient vibe. I like the contrast between the very sharp rim shots and stick cliks and the soft atmospheric elements. Nice panning of the rhythm bits. There were a couple of spots where I felt the pulsing tonewheel was a bit too up front. It might be fun to have that part gradually advance and recede in distance, using reverb or some other modulation filter, to create a sense of movement through space.
I was waiting for a major change up, sort of an epiphany transition, but I think this piece is more about a mood than a journey. The bi-wing fly-by at the end was a nice surprice (oops, that's a spoiler!). (7-8-7-7) [ Reply to This ]
a clowd in 3 clicks.. &mdash 11/14/04 - 10:12:57 PM
finally found a reason to use that filter-nothin gets by you, man! ;)
thanks for the reverb idea-will throw into bag of tricks. hope you got a
chance to listen with speakers instead of headphones. sounds kinda sterile to
me without the low-end to balance out the coldness of the 'clickity-clacks'.
maybe i need to start adding more mid-range or something. i appreciate the

The overlapping complexity of sounds you got going
here is pretty deep... I would definitely call this
ambient, rather than industrial...but great tune
anyway...unique and absorbing. [ Reply to This ]
clowd machine &mdash 11/14/04 - 10:22:26 PM
thanks! yeah-lots o' stuff goin on, the next one out will be a little simpler.
i meant this to be a little more sinister at the outset, hence the industrial
nature.. some smoke mixed into those clowds [ Reply to This ]
rhythmic.... &mdash 11/15/04 - 07:27:32 AM
perculating koolness....the analog synth gives it a dark
ambience.........like an android crying out in the night for a
taste of humanity.....this piece could replace some of the
curent mind altering drugs out there ....very kool.... [ Reply to This ]

More melody &mdash 11/15/04 - 10:40:31 AM
Really rhythmic. I like the rim shot thing going on. That
bass synth sound is schweet too.
I'd like to see more "song" content from you. This is pure
background.
You gotta add a change up for us to sink our teeth into. [ Reply to This ]
More melody &mdash 11/15/04 - 07:54:05 PM
thanks mr. troy. chikoppi noted the need for a transition as well & i'm trying
real hard to 'get it'. i've had this said of my other stuff, too. this song is kinda
slow/soft so it seems harder to throw a really tangental curve without
blowing it. i can certainly grasp that it's way too linear-will try to work on
it [ Reply to This ]
What IS a G5G5, anyway? &mdash 11/15/04 - 04:24:20 PM
I wouldn't really classify this as Industrial, either...
although it would feel right at home alongside some
Industrial tracks for an Industrial album, so.... good
enough for me.
You are very talented at creating audio atmospheres, but
do agree with Troy. Perhaps, it's time to push for
something that's structured more like a song. As an
experiment if nothing else. Nice retro feel with the synths,
and the rhythmic texture I absolutely love! [ Reply to This ]
industrial v. ambient &mdash 11/15/04 - 08:04:59 PM
i can't decide which way to go on this. uses the vocabulary of an industrial
song, i think, but doesn't really have the 'grind' to it. hmm..
gonna work on song structure. i have another tune almost finished that
changes directions a bunch-not sure if it's gonna come off as holistic, or just
a bunch of pieces. then it's back to the virtual drawing board to see what i
can put together. thanks much for the comment [ Reply to This ]
Push the sounds around more... &mdash 11/15/04 - 06:26:58 PM
Great start... the ambient atmosphere is stifled by the
synths and other sounds being so stationary. Create a 3-D
or motion effect with panning and doubling. And yes, a
change-up is needed. An interlude, perhaps in a different
key and/or tempo.

Push the sounds around more... &mdash 11/15/04 - 08:11:05 PM
thanks for being so specific. i got this thing laid out & then was afraid to
'break it'. time to shake things up a bit.. onward i go [ Reply to This ]
took me back &mdash 11/15/04 - 09:12:16 PM
for a while, some of it reminds me of some older pieces,
done back w/ analog synths, etc. I'd agree that the main
filter synth line needs to have more movement in the mix.
Like it;s getting obscured and then clarifying again. I also
feel almost like it tries to move almost too much
melodically, I think it works best as a sort of ostinato -
almost a drone. I'd like some of the higher freq. things
that sneak in here and there, to maybe get a little it hotter
too. Keep playing with it. [ Reply to This ]
took me back &mdash 11/15/04 - 11:40:52 PM
thanks ka-klick. had to look up ostinato (musical phrase that repeats).
maybe i'll try taking this song apart & reassembling it sometime-i would
really like to try out some of these ideas, repost & get additional feedback.
kinda burnt out on this one for now tho-something about playin it over &
over & over &.. ;) [ Reply to This ]
it's all about texture... &mdash 11/16/04 - 11:01:01 AM
You've created a very interesting background texture with
the various percussion sounds. I agree with all that has
been said previously about the need for more of a
"change-up", as well as modifying the lead synth sound.
I would also suggest varying the textures by letting the
percussion tracks "solo" at times -- they're so interesting
by themselves -- to give the ear a rest from the almost
relentless synth sound. You did this briefly in the last 1/3
of the song, when you faded out the solo line and let the
percussion shine through. More alternation of these
textures would create more interest.
Perhaps have more variation in the percussion, too.
Alternate between having everything play at once with less
instruments.
The percussion is definitely the most distinctive and
imaginative aspect of this tune, and I encourage you to
continue your development of it! [ Reply to This ]
it's all about texture... &mdash 11/16/04 - 06:21:46 PM
thanks a lot cameron. i really like the percussion ideas. i'm still trying to
figure out iDrum & pretty much had all of the perc run from start to finish-it
was something i wanted to play with, but never got to (just in case you didn't
notice, there are a bunch of perc tracks). you helped me zero in on
what the others are talking about a bit more. i appreciate it [ Reply to This ]

Thick texture &mdash 11/19/04 - 07:01:26 PM
I love the feel of this. I picture a broad brush painting
texture rather than a pointellist. I wouldn't change this at
all. If you go for melody, do it in another effort! This is
much more visceral. Which parts are attributable to the
buzzer2? I just installed it and am curious to give it a
whirl! [ Reply to This ]
Thick texture &mdash 11/21/04 - 11:24:21 AM
thanks for the comments. buzzer handled the low droning effects (first
sounds you hear) & the higher 'swish' sounds. there were GB effects on those
sounds as well. a hint for using buzzer would be to use the 'random' button
(off to the right somewhere) to give you a starting point & then tweak it from
there. i usually begin with a vague idea of what i want in a sound & then try
to find it by experimenting with the buttons & knobs, they are just beginning
to make sense to me-lots to play with [ Reply to This ]
plastique &mdash 12/06/04 - 07:48:25 PM
this reminds me a lot of old plastikman- and takes
me back.
i really like what you've done here as far as rhythm
and space. i think the pulsing filter-ey sound is a
little hot- should blend in with the track a little
more- it's strength is in everything supporting that
sound.

great observation about the main synth line being too hot. i had it buried a
little more in previous versions & you are right-sounded much better. thanks

Your song has a big canvas of sound which does a tremendous
job in capturing the listener and entangling their imagination with
the most surreal and contrasting concert of notes I think I have ever heard.
Bravo!!!

is clowd=cloud crowd? &mdash 01/15/05 - 02:38:31 AM
This must be my lucky day. I have been listening to great
works. All of the background is marvellous, and that
analogueish synth upfront gives the feeling of an entity
which the title suggests. I like the submerged bass which
we hear clearly in the beginning. I like the percussive
details. But most of all, the synth makes a melody as if
saying "who I am" and I love its uncertain melancholy.
You're a pro dude! [ Reply to This ]

Amazing plethera of sounds evoking a mind trip of
imagination. This kind of music I don't have the foggiest
how to do... I love it. The whole thing works as far as I am
concerned.

..great sounds, the phaser effect on the synth is really
trippy in headphones, almost makes you dizzy when
listening to it loud... Very dramatic sound to it... the
'clicking' sounding beat is really cool too, I could listen to
a song just using that. Nice stuff! [ Reply to This ]

Well Mungo and I am back for another listen here.........just love the idea of
confusion and disorder that is in this clowd here...........I just feel so
refreshed each and every time that I go through the cloud. You know that it
is kind of going through the drive through car wash.............and then getting
the high pressure air dry at the end when you upgrade to the deluxe
package!!!! Or even like biting into a york peppermint patty.
Anyways good work again on Cloud!!!!! And I am curious abour which patch
that you used on the crystal synth. I love that thing.......but I am not quitet
sure what all is happenning yet when I use it. Perhahps you could give me
that one probably blatently obvious thing that I am missing.
And to you Mungo, I will get on the process of finding some more favorites to
"beef" up my list of favorites. What about your library...........? I am sure I
could find a little somethin there.
Sincerely,

haha-the refreshing car wash analogy is perfect-made me laugh.. the 'deluxe'
package for sure! as far as crystal goes, i think i'm in about the same place
you are. i just started fiddling around & got some sounds that i liked, but
nothing i could really control, yet. just keep playing with it. check out

Wow, crazy stuff! I feel Dizzy .... &mdash 03/08/05 - 03:41:31 AM
Sound to me like Kraftwerk on acid! I love the way the
beats and synthpads blend together and form this huge
wave of sound, a sonic avalanche constantly moving
forward, putting the listener in to a psychadelic trance.
This should have been the soundtrack for "Fear and
Loathing in Las Vegas" [ Reply to This ]

6:50 &mdash 08/16/05 - 06:12:38 AM
It's 6:50 in the morning right now, I haven't slept yet, and I
just listened to this for the first time. This was exactly what
my mind needed. Mellow and relaxing, but not boring and
sleep-inducing. It was flowing, but at the same time there
was enough going on that my brain worked to pick out each
new, individual noise as it came and went. Relaxing, but at
the same time engaging.
I liked it alot.
BTW, I am staying up all night and devoting myself to making
music... :-) [ Reply to This ]
