Description:
I overdubbed some real drums and adjusted the chorus based on some feedback from fellow majammers. I think this version has a bit more bite and feel. Thanks for everyones comments.
Lyrics:
Free YourselfBy Sean O'Malley
(c) 2008
Your head is swimming in a darkened sea
no make believe has felt so real
With faded colors turing black and white
Your mid wrestles with it day and night
(Chorus)
You need to free yourself
from the past and the pains and the ones you've blamed
Ask yourself
"Would I know what to do, just to make it through?"
You never missed a beat you never wained
But all you know now is how to point the blame
There's something in us all that gets us through
You need to find your cause once you do
You will free yourself
from the past and the pains and the ones you've blamed
Because you asked yourself
"Would I know what to do, just to make it through?"
(Bridge)
Now that you found someone to help you through
A certain someone who tells you what to do
Time to fly, raise up your hands, make them understand
See it through and make it all come true.
Chorus

I can't say enough. This is a hit song. I would bring in the drums at the same time as the bass right after the first verse, or bring the bass and drums in right after the second measure before the first verse. In either case, I would bring them in together. Great work!

but I want to hear the drums more. I can barely pick them up in the mix.
I agree with Andy I'd bring them in with the bass and up the level on them.

This is fabulous ..the guitars so clean and strong
very moving singing ..the arrangment just so professional
you would use an electric guitar instead of the strings
to let it sound more rockin ..but the strings are fine
Kudos ...this is just great ..thnx alot for sharin !!!

about the tech stuff ... this is a great tune and your vocal delivery is outstanding. on my bose monitors everything sounds pretty nice.

Yates would be proud. this tempo is more pocket here and the changes feel more pronounced.

A really nice tune, you have a powerful voice. I like the way you progress the instrumentation.
If I have a nit-pick, I would say that I'd like the bass and especially the drum kit come up in the mix.
Fine song!

Nice Vocals - Great Progression - Very Nice Lyrics. Thanks for sharing this nice little master piece. It reminds me of a 90s band but for some reason I can't think of the name. Either way, Kudos!!

I downloaded the first version and listen to it ALL the time on my Ipod and Itunes. The message is what appeals to me most. I will update my version with this as it is quickly becoming my "go to" tune.

.. great vocals in particular.. felt it needed a bit more 'oomph' somehow to get
it across to a modern market... but the mix balance and arrangement is excellent.. perhaps more el. guitars... although I love the acoustic parts.
I could hear a crunchy rock band like "Live" having a field day with a song like
this.
pablatone
this is really nice, a hooky song with a good message.

Found this song in the forum under "songs need some lovin." And let me tell you, I love it! I love the melody and the vocals are spot on! Oooh, the build up is very subtle. That's cool. Loved and downloaded. Thanks!
