Description:
There is no good time to present a piece like this, so I hope you will forgive me for posting it now. I wrote "Lamentation" about two months ago, but struggled with an appropriate title...until I found the accompanying painting by Andy Stevenson
(www.andy-stevenson.com). Perhaps his image and my music will touch a chord of hopeful peace in those who look and listen and reflect. "Peace On Earth" is, after all, the desire of most people, and, regardless of our national tragedy, it nevertheless remains our hopeful beacon. I hope this little piece will mean something to all who hear it...And check out Andy's website. He graciously has allowed me to use his picture here.

Paul: Yes, peace on earth is our cry and our banner. Very nice symphonic approach. Hope rises from ashes, breaks the shackles, frees the oppressed. Let's make it real, not just head vapor.

Amazing how can you control these chords to sound so
intregued with the weeping flute ..wonderful character
here with the feel of lamentation and prayers deep...
I think you benefit from the floating for the chords
instead melted them together ...I cant do that this is
more than I can think of ...I m impressed ...I loved
the flute ...so emotional ...thnx alot for a new gem

as I've come to expect with your music this is simply beautiful and more gorgeous than I imagined was possible.
You are truly a very gifted musician, composer, performer. Your works should be on iTunes... All of them!
Excellent in every way! No faults can be found!

very smooth tune.... feels like a peaceful day when there's snow falling outside.

beautiful piece from you Paul and although it may be a 'Lamentation', there's nothing sombre about it, but a gracefulness, Regards M

I'm kind of speechless here. Even you have outdone yourself in this beautiful piece!
Unlike you I think EVERY DAY is a very good time to present music such as this. If every wo/man listened to this every day, do you really believe there would be such a thing as war?! Nay, says I!
This is a true masterpiece, and I thank you for presenting it here, even with the download button activated! Let's hope for frequent "clicks", I sure did :-)
Stay well!

You always so amaze me. The flute is a wonder and so flows with the passage. I love the open airy feel of the music . Maurice said "gracefulness" ... good word ... wonderful piece of work sir.

Paul - i'm speechless at this. One of the most beautiful pieces of music i think i've heard anywhere. Your talent knows no bounds - thank you for this.

between pastoral and elegiac. This really shows your range Paul, considering the bouncing bartokian romp you gave us last time. Beautiful chordal work with a well chosen texture for a lead instrument. What wonderful economy here... the rest of us can learn from your use of space on this piece. This would slide in well with Barber or Kitaro... superbly done!

You really have got an amazing range. Lunatrick said Barber and I'll second that.
Wonderful piece.

Elegant as always, starting with a desperate cry of hopelessness, and moving through the anguish, with a very deliberate and smooth transition to the final major chord of hope, a ray of light. Very nicely done.
Now, let's clean up this mess. Here's another broom, I'll start here, you start there, and we'll have this world all sparkly in no time! :-)

I have listened many times to this piece and have just gone through all the previous comments so I would say 'more or less what others have said' but add that this is another personal favourite of mine.... the arrangement is excellent and the sounds come together so well.
My only gripe is that Time speeds up every time I listen and so I would have preferred a longer version. I no sooner start the play and settle back and it's start the play again, etc., etc..
Take care.

Paul, this is truly beautiful. Thank you so much.

is truly beautiful. You have such a wonderful sense of melody and arrangement, and the instrumentation is magnificent. If I had to pick a nit, I'd chime in with Paul and say it could be longer. But other than that, it's perfect. Nicely done, my friend. Kudos. Peace.

Just when I think you can't top you last piece, you go and do it. just wonderful, Paul :-)

Strong tonal start. Heart wrenching flute melody. There are sure signs of hope in the resolution of the melody. Orchestration provides perfect support for your melody. Enjoyed!!
Thanks

Wonderfully expressed, deeply moving sentiment that surely resonates with any human heart. The simplicity and genuine yearning for something higher, which I find in your music is not only inspiring and uplifting, but also a rare quality few people care to express through music these days. Thanks so much for posting here!

Yup, I got goosebumps. The picture adds another dimension. Orchestration was very spare and elegant. The flute part was so delicate and gently played. (even though software, it was awesome.) Everyone else has said more than I can reiterate here, so I'll just download it so I can listen again. Truly beautiful music!
