Description:
I've done several recordings and made different approaches on this song. This is the latest and how I like to do it nowadays.
I recently got Logic Studio 8, and this is my first attempt at tweaking the knobs in Logic. Going from GarageBand to this was not that frightening, but I see I have some pages to turn before I'm confident with what lies underneath the hood...
Any suggestions and production hints are welcome:)

Lyrics:
In tune with youThor Oliversen©2007
Somethings got me going
it may be so undefinable
Somehow I am rolling
on my way towards you
Love to wake beside you
and watch your peaceful face at sleep
No one can deny me
the love I have to keep
And I have found the tune that suits you
When we share a good day
and the sun comes to our hearts
we play so good together
there can heardly be a better place
And I have found the tune that suits you
BRIDGE
And when I wake beside you
I pray that it will last
Knowing that you feel it too.
you know it's all I ask
Guitar solo
Something keeps me going
and it's quite definable
It is all that we've been sharing
I love you - so i stay
And I have found the tune that suits you
/:I'm in tune with you:/

You seem to have mastered enough of LP8 to make this sound significantly better produced than your GB posts. Lovely acoustic sounds, and everything else seems to fit nicely on the sound stage. Love the sound of your lead playing. Keys sound fantastic - maybe a little softer than I'd like, but that's just a personal preference. Those betamonkey drums sound pretty good - must investigate!
I really like this one Thor - it has a real presence to me.

Thanks for the nice words Neil. If you can hear a difference to the better from my GB post I'm relieved. I used some mastering tools in Logic that I think made the difference. Of course there are some new fx tools in the box that also brings it more to live I guess.
But all in all it's about the playing and music making, so I'm glad you liked it:)
ktb
thoddi. I think it sounds fabulous. Can't hear any nits myself, cept what Neil said re; bringing those fab keys up a tad. The guitar sound is in my fav place. Stellar vox as usual.

I'm pretty happy with that crunchy sound I got here. Thanks for mentioning that. Always a treat to see you've been listening John.
Thanks:)

You have a Troubadore's soul... your stuff holds together so well... it is so evident that you have a considerable live performance experience.... it causes you stuff to transend the usual & ordinary

You are very kind with the compliments Scott:) Thanks.

I like what you did with the lead guitar slightly on center with the vox (just a tiny tad to the right?) - It's like you singing and playing the guitar right there front stage where you would be. Are there two other rhythm guitars, or just one? With headphones, sounds like two with the wider panning, but that gives this mix a nice separation.
Definitely up-beat tune. Bass and kit are marvelous, keys a little subtle.

I didn't think of it that way with the panning of the guitar, but now that you mention it... cool.
I chose a preset for the acoustic that made this strange panning effect. I've been on and of if I like it or not, but chose to keep it.
The drums sounded too busy at first, but I also like the seventhies feel they give, so they got to stay as well.
Thanks for dropping in Harold. I always enjoy your visits:)

is that the graphic is a little 'un-tuned' :-)

Akkurat tjempegrejt!
And your guitar stuff is just fabolous!!!
I love it!

Your avatar looks tjempegrej Johannes:)
Thanks for visiting and leaving your kind words.

Man, from the first note it sounds terrific. Acoustic is perfect, and just love that lead guitar sound - gritty but clear and up front. Hadn't heard anything from you before, so i'm happy to have stumbled onto this. Great blue eyed soul, and I really like the "have found a tune that suits you" concept, I have a song along the same lines (Lisa, You're the Band), i've always liked the idea that a person can be distilled into a song...
thoddi
Just listened to your latest song, and that is one cool rock'n roll tune.
You have left some very nice words for me here. Thanks a lot:)

Great sound you got already, but then you always knew what you were doing before. It does sound a like it has that little extra. Up beat and well written with some great playing. Ktb sums it up best.
thoddi
I used to have a Tokai bass guitar:) The bass player that bought it from me, were very happy - he wanted it just to hang it on the wall. He had several other Tokai basses, and collected them.
Thanks for your encouraging words. Very appreciated.
five_extra_arms
Indeed.
You're pretty amazing. The production sounds pro.
Excellent guitar sounds and your vocals are great.

Mr Thoddi, this has a much more professional sound than anything that I've heard on GB, and I've been sold on, GB. Things just sound softer and warmer, too! Both compliment music that seems to always come from deep within your heart and soul. Haven't listened to much of your stuff (my bad), but I'll see how many I can catch up on. I'm open for suggestions for ones that you think you'd really want to make sure that I don't miss in case time does what it tends to do with me.
Listening to the quality of this has me knowing what will be my next purchase for my little craft.
Glad I stopped by! Thanks for getting in touch with me! Dion
PS - REALLY like the warmth in your voice and guitar on this. And the bass is just mushy good!
thoddi
You are generous with the compliments my friend:) Thanks a lot for spending time here and leaving such warm and nice words.
Regarding your kind question on suggestions to what songs I'd want you to listen to... I'd humbly offer the future ones:)
bud
sweet guitar licks and nice blend on the vocals. Well done.

You know I have liked your music from the first... this one fits right in, and maybe more. Your vocal harmonies are sweet and I love that vocal pause in the middle and near the end... nice. Guitar is cooking as is usual with your songs.
Good one, soulman.

Still like the song! Sound seems clearer to me. Vocals, cymbals, sound super.
Thanks

Must be the wonders of Logic that make them sound clear. I'm beginning to enjoy working with logic. Was afraid it would be too much to learn before I could make any goodness come out of it, but it seems pretty straight forward.
Thanks for stopping by:)

your funky songs - you somehow mange to make the recording so polished and professional but, at the same time, retain a live feel. Great song and impeccable vocals/musicianship. Another download for me. Thanks . Good luck with the new vocational direction too.

That is one great compliment:)

Thor, sounds like you dialed into logic quickly. It's not all that difficult. and a lot to explore.
crystal clear production here, nice!

This sounds great, and if this is your first piece using Logic, you're certainly going in the right direction! Nice song, and lovely vocal performance. I really like the guitar sounds - both the acoustic and electric (lovely solo, by the way!) - and I think the song is very cool. Nicely done. Peace.
thoddi
Good to hear that my Logic debut turned out OK. Thanks for nice encouraging words and for mentioning the solo - appreciated:)
craft
This sounds fabulous. Great job... Everything in the right place..
My first post ever. Just wanted to say how much i enjoyed your song. It's put me off sending a song in, though, as i'll struggle to sound anything like as good as you did! :-)
thoddi
Thanks for leaving nice encouraging word for me:)
But don't let any others stuff keep you from putting up your songs. It's the way to get better, getting comments from other musicians, and learning new things step by step. There are always new things to pick up, and at macjams there are lots of cool people sharing knowledge. I feel I have learned a lot here.
guitapick
I really like this. There's a "fresh" and "airy" quality to it that makes me feel good.
Nice piece. Logic sounds great.
thoddi
Fresh and airy sounds good to me:)

...your guitar playing...And not just the lead playing, either...I think you've got a great feel for rhythm guitar playing, and it really shows in the left and right acoustic guitars here... In fact, you've got a great feel for rhythm itself, I think, which is what makes your songs catchy from the start...The bass and drums are always in the pocket...
I also really like the way you sing...
Ed
thoddi
I'm thrilled to find your nice words:) Your comment on my feel of rhythm is especially appreciated. My bandmates often have to put up with me jumping for the drummers place if he should leave it for a sec;)
Hope to hear some new cool acoustic tunes from you soon:)
Ibstrat
song- your singing and guitar playing are excellent and the mix sounds about perfect to me.

Trying again to reply to this. After Simon's new fix of the mj pages, I wasn't able to reply, but will hopefully work this time ...
Glad to see you here again Tim. Hope you had a fab vacation.
Thanks a lot for your fine words on my music. Very appreciated:)
We need your soulful motown voice with us in the new collab, so I cross my fingers for your appearance there:)
and a great song. I love the stereo usage. Well panned to keep it open. Great technique. Nice bright open mix. A lot going on, but not cluttered. Great groove and nice drum and guitar sounds. Sounds very finished and professional. One day my songs will sound this way!

A great happy tune to nod along to. Sounds Tight and very polished throughout.
I'm a sucker for short punchy solo's and that was great.
Your playing is super but i really admire the structure and song writing you've got going on here. It makes for a great pop song.
Cheers

it was recorded live, and it has that kind of energy. "And I've found the tune that suits you." Excellent rocking love song. Thanks.
