Lyrics:
a friend in my hometown says she mentions my name every now and thenIt's not good or bad it just sounds like a part of my soul somehow stuck around
in her heart underneath her wedding gown she thought of me when making her vows to him
so tonight I feel down i'll go see her if she wants to be found
she spent her money, laid it all down for a man who was foolish and proud
he didnt hit her but he hurt her how she could let him i never figured out
she was pretty she always stood out in a crowd she doesnt look anything like she used to now
so tonight i'll wash my face and go see her if she wants to be found
i'm not an arrogant man to be around i've tried to keep my feet on the ground
in a way she failed how i failed speaking whispers while everyone was being so loud
but we dreamed of lightning and thunderclouds and still the world never heard a sound
so tonight i feel down and i'm gonna see her if shes wants to be found
tonight i'll dream her eyes gentle and brown and fall in love if shes wants to be found

this song a lot. The vocal melody is very nice. A very soothing song you can lose yourself in. Would you post the lyrics? I like that you will see her if SHE wants to be found. I don't usually say this but I would like this song to be longer. It builds up very nicely and then when it just gets in full swing, it is over. I think I'd like a section instruments only, and when the vocals return, she wants to be found and then slowly fade out. A thought. Thanks for sharing this.

Thanks so much for your kind words. Glad you liked the song. I've posted the lyrics for you. Hope you enjoy.

As others have said your voice digs in, so rich. Nice tune and some sweet playing as well. Thanks.

.. is very good, and I like most everything about this. There are touches of Blue Nile in the way you've constructed and recorded this one (an extremely good thing in my book). I'd like the early bass (maybe the first 1/3) to be a little lighter. I'm the last one to criticise big bass, but I think its just a bit too big for this particular song in the first sections.
As has been said earlier, a creative (not necessarily fancy) instrumental section would add to this a lot.
Overall though, a fine post. You don't mention your recording setup - it would be interesting to hear how you came up with such a nice production.
VERY good!

thanks for feedback. The big bass is duly noted. I'll see what I can do about that in the beginning there.
And the Blue Nile feel you get I have never gotten that comparison. Awesome. As for an instrumental section are you saying this needs to be a 7 minute song?
Production was very simple. Recorded the vocals and guitar with an AKG C3000B and worked the rest through garageband.

Blue Nile - its about the way you use words melodically - as in "sou-nd", "gow-n" etc
A bass hint: I use a fairly tight compression on bass to keep it within reasonable limits - works for me. Its funny, but I'm listening again at lower volume and the bass isn't standing out as much as it did at higher volume.
Instrumental - maybe just doubling what you have, but with a little more happening - having said that though, what you have adds to the Blue Nile vibe.
It is a very good song Jason.

the bass tip was much appreciated. I'll see about putting a new mix up soon. Maybe I'll try to work out a better instrumental but no promises on that one. so glad you like the song

It takes a mature style to pull off such a simple approach so nicely. I could hang out and listen to this kind of stuff all day. Great dynamics in the build up as well.
This might be one of your first songs at macjams but I'm guessing you've been doing this for a while.
Welcome!

Jason this is a great song. I love the sound of it all. You also have a nice deep soulful sound, a more deep and bass filled Ray LaMontagne type of sound, at least that's the person I would compare it to. Definitely just one of those sit back, take it all in, raw type of tracks. The only crit I would have is on the parts where you gro ow on, cl ow oud. It seems like you could go a little flat at times, but not everytime. Overall great piece and great vocals. Thanks.
JasonGoodman
I hadn't heard of Ray until I looked him up on youtube. Very cool find, thanks.
as for the voice i'll be careful about going flat. Maybe I was too lazy on this one.
take it easy

I like your voice. Very heartfelt. John Prine look out. I like the changes and the song's theme.

I missed this the first time around.
This is top notch songwriting and performance which definitely stands out in the macJams crowd.
This puts me in the mind of the Jayhawks a bit.
Really, really good. I'll look for more of your stuff.
