However, I have a nephew named Max too, and when yours grows to be 4, as mine is, you will need to buy a copy of one of the greatest childrens books of all time, just for him. You know, the one that starts:
"The night Max wore his wolf suit and made mischief of one kind or another..." (smirk)
Hey, I vaguely recognize that motif :-) Very beautiful rolling piano work, soothing accompaniment. Hope you burn a CD of some of these works and send them off for Max to start appreciating good music, especially if it has piano, french horns, and oboe in it, how can you lose? :-)

I had to repeat the theme several times so he would learn it!!! Glad you liked it...thanks as always for your thoughtful words. You are right - gotta get him started early on appreciating THE coolest instruments. Maybe he'll grow up to be a Horn player like his Auntie Shay!

...wonderful and graceful gift for this little boy. He will have it forever from his uncle. This is so very gentle and pleasant with some interesting chord changes and the occasional dissonance to keep it all so very interesting. Such a pleasant, calm feeling you've brought to this piece. Oh, the added horns -- nice!
I will listen to this many times. Bravo.
Peace.

Thanks for your great comment Paul! i wanted to keep the song simple, not much development, so that it would be sort of soothing like a lullaby, but I just couldn't help throwing in a bit of dissonance to keep it interesting. I'm glad it worked for you!

contented sigh. Beautiful as always :)

This turned out GREAT! I love your combination of instruments, and as usual your piano themes and playing are just gorgeous. That little Max is a lucky boy!

I actually had a tough time choosing instrumentation for this - wanting to keep it warm and soothing, I didn't want anything to really stand out. I'm glad my choices worked for you - hopefully they'll work for Max too and put him right to sleep! Thanks as always for your generous support and wonderful comments.
tokai
beautiful as always... peaceful. welcome to Mcjams Max.

I'm sure Max will be very grateful for the warm welcome. As soon as he's old enough, I'll have to get him to set up an MJ account so he can start listening to awesome music! Thanks for stopping by....glad you found some peace here.

This music is a beautiful thought given freely from a loving heart.
The arrangement is excellent. The choice of instruments compliments the piano so well with the phrases that you use.
Take care.

This is beautiful... Flows so well from beginning to the end and I really like the instruments you add one after the other. Organic, heartfelt and moving. What a priceless gift to offer to anyone, but that photo sure is cute!

The artwork, that is ;-) What a cutie pie!
But the music is so nice and peaceful too. I have just come home from a release party of my brother's band's first CD*, with some cool live performances, so this was the right thing to listen to to be able to settle down for the night. Thank you!!

(* The band is called Datahysteri and their album 27 Visions of the Door is available on iTunes Store, at least in Sweden, but hopefully in US and other countries as well. I'll be happy to hear if anyone finds it in their respective iTunes store :-)

This is by far my favorite piano playing of yours. It's just gorgeous. Beautifully voiced. I love the simple changes, which are very appropriate for the subject.
I'm guessing your sister was reduced to tears. Max will treasure this his whole life. Nice to leave him something like that, isn't it?
My dear Shay, look at you grow...
