Description:
This is a collaboration with Henri Roger.
His skills and talent are pretty much apreciated and I hope we can work again in the future.Thank you very much, Henri.
Initially, the song should feature vocals but I couldn´t make them work at all so, I buried them.I can try again later sometime.
The silences and the loud parts are all very defined and that´s a good thing.
If you liked it, it´s most due to Henri´s piano work.If you don´t, it´s probably my fault...Thanks for listening.
This is also my first stab at Reaper.I think I found an alternative to audacity which my lazy brain can adapt to after trying Abelton Live, Pro Tools and Sonar...
PS:My liver to the first one who guess where the title is taken from...

There's a line in Watchmen that talks of a blood stain like the 'map of a violent new continent', which is what it sounds like to me. Dark and spooky - not like any mambo i've ever heard (maybe a black mamba?). the buried vocals kinda add to the overall mood of the piece.

you are right, thank you very much for listening!

but important the vocal are definite plus to me they work as the background tension that this needs. The piano gives it a spontenaity that it needs.. I'm sure I spelled that wrong, ya know at 4:25 it got real interesting, It builds to a very interesting jazzy bass distortion breakdown that really brings out the, lets open another beer feel. Thanks!
yrp
I liked the expression let´s open another beer, but I think "Let´s cut him fatally this time" suits the song more...
Thanks, Tim!

I feel the violence taking place...good work on this. the piano recording is very preofessional. i feel like i just listened to a murderous act...like a story on the radio b4 television.
yrp
gave me an idea...
When I have some free time I will try to make one of those radio adaptations of a Ramsey Campbell (an excellent horror writer) story...

this is really great, i love the piano mixed in with your dark moody soundbed. perfect for a soundtrack. i'm glad to hear that you got reaper up and running too (there's a lot of good tips on their forum). this is probably my fave piece that you have done, both in composition and overall sound. there is a lot more fidelity to your sound on this one, and it's really cool. never considered your stuff lo-fi, and the extra sonics really add to the piece; beautifully mixed and conceived. outstanding stuff by both of you.
yrp
thank you again for instroducing me to Reaper. The interface is similar to Sonar but much more intuitive and I love the fact that it steals all the Fxs from the other DAWs, heheheh!
The process from now on will be: using audacity only to recording stuff from the Behringer interface (UCA 202) to Pc and Reaper for mixing/tweaking/mastering.
I am glad you liked that one.Henri did a great job with it!

nice mix .. cool sounds and arrangement.
Even the barely audible vocal kinda works and suits.
Intrigue, mystery, suspense .. in a pychotic thriller sense.

I was thinking about including some whistling...

Scary track. Those tape-hiss (or white noise) moments really do it for me. And I dig those 'non-solo' turns. Auditory attic wallpaper, faded and peeling. Fine, restrained piano, too.
yrp
noise do you mean?
The one at the quiet interlude at the midle of the track?
The non solo parts were made on me playing around with my Strat´s
switch until it almost hold on position...
I am sure there were like, 10 minues of these noises but I (wisely) muted most of it...
thanks, sonny

the one that is most obvious is the one at 0:25, which I assume is the hum of your amp. That, and some light, light, light guitar noises reappear all throughout the track. There's a strong sense here of 'sound as music', which is what I was commenting on.

This is a song that keeps playing even after the track has ended. Interesting how it has that effect.

yrp
a great effect...
Most of the tracks I start begins with a sound (a drum track, a drone, a guitar chord, a noise) that refuses to get out and then I develop a road to made its way out of my mind
VicDiesel
but I'm happy to be taken for a ride, for the 6 minutes that it lasts. Very interesting soundscapes!
yrp
flatering and satisfying for me to keep you guessing...thanks for listening

i enjoy darker more emotional/troubling music so i enjoyed this track. the dark clean piano that came in was nice. @ around 4:00 came this uneasy yet comfortable rising..loved it.
yrp
thanks!

Don't know if you remember Fantasia - the beginning of this reminds me of the one of the more abstract pieces from there. I'm digging the buried vocals. I love the idea. A new violent continent, formed by the shifting of plates, the dark vocals both a whispered memory and a threat. The slight melody that appears here and there with the piano and that grows through the piece seems to be softly speaking of the peace that will be formed once the continent has come to rest. And yet at about 4:25, it takes a darker, more sinister turn, with more man-made instruments appearing, symbolizing the appearance of mankind on the continent that destroys the peace that could have been. Just my interpretation.
yrp
a wonderful interpretation!
If this little piece by me and Henri evoked such great imagery I can only be glad and very happy for your listening and the time you took to put your thoughts here...
You´ve made me happy.Thank you.

This one is eerie. Listening to it raised the little hairs on my neck and arms and I almost got waves of chills. So perfect for a spooky movie where you have no idea what the killer looks like but you can see him make his preparations. Thanks.
