Description:
This is going to be the last "The One" lol. I have been sitting on this one for over a month now so it wouldn't be competing with the previous versions. I have to say it was a pleasure working with everyone who collaborated with me on this. I will once again thank Brian (Elevator Funk) for suggesting a collaboration initially, and of course Chris, (PickQuickRecords) and Michael, (mvh9591) for their hard work on this one. Michael came up with an electric piano line and a synth line, and it fit perfectly, then Chris touched it with his magic lead guitar. The input of both artists truly made this a unique version amongst the other two posted and I couldn't be happier. Eventually the original will be removed and the two collaborations will be the only ones up. Thank you Thank you Thank you!!
Lyrics:
The weekend is over and it went by way to fastand it seems to take forever for five lonely days to pass
The telephone is ringin and I'm feelin way to blue
and I'm not pickin up girl cause I know that it's you
I start thinkin bout all those things I left undone
and thats when I start to wonder if I was ever meant to be the one...
Chorus
The one who holds you late at night
The one who calms the fear inside
The one who holds you oh so tight
The one who you run to when there's no place left to hide... left to hide
Solo
I know that in my past I've ignored responsibility
I've been runnin around in circles and it's finally catchin up with me
Sometimes I get so scared of what the future holds
I want us to be together girl so we can share our souls
But there's so many people who don't think that this love should be
ya but they will never know what you mean to me
Chorus
Outro
The telephone is still ringin and I'm feelin way to blue
I can't bring myself to answer it cause I know who it is I know it's you .. ya you

This collab works really well. Sounds very good...
guygrooves
Nice of you to take the time to listen and comment. Thanks again Bro

Elevator_Funk
This version is great. I don't think your overdoing it with all these versions of the song, its a learning exerience for me too. I think this one has more pop savvy because the instruments lay back and let the vocals take the lead and they only come in when necessary.
I hope you leave all the versions up because it is kind of neat to see all the different directions a song can take.
guygrooves
Ok I will leave em up. You have great advice lol. Thanks for the listen and comment, collab, and advice.
Peace

every time I hear this one Guy. The collab worked extremely well on this one my friend. I liked the first, I liked the second even more, and I really like this one the best so far.
I'll be waiting to see where you go with it next time, but I can't imagine it getting even better. Knowing you, it just might.
Be well and be cool my friend,
Ed

Very pro sounding. Fine vocal delivery, and solid melody - had me singing along! Wouldn't sound out of place on any 'Adult Contemporary' rock radio station anywhere in the world -
Good stuff -

think i said before that this has a great so. cal country rock/gram parsons vibe and that your vocals recall gordon lightfoot so i'll just repeat all that and tell you again that this is a stellar tune.
guygrooves
Tempie I appreciate your support and the time you took for a listen.

have had a better "casting" call. Loved the original and this is just pushed to bar higher. Guy this IS a great song ... absolutely !
guygrooves
agree with you more lol. Chris and Michael really delivered didn't they?

All round performances with an excellent production sound. A lot of work by the sounds of it.
guygrooves
It was actually easier to do the collaborations than it was to re record it initially. When you have the right people (Chris and Michael on this one) and (Brian and Henri on the previous) it just flowed effortlessly. Thanks for the listen and kind words.

this to my ipod so I have the complete set! Funny how I can be amazed all over again with every version but I love the progression it has taken.
guygrooves
Sheila I am happy you liked this one too lol

Great layout of instruments.
Like the piano coming through.
Vocals are great.
I would just say I feel the drums are a little bit lost somewhere and I'd maybe have a bit 'clearer' but apart from that a sterling production.
guygrooves
King, I always appreciate your insightful comments and usually agree with them. I have since discovered "Addictive Drums" a midi drum program and will eventually stop using Logics' loops. The Addictive program makes it easy to write your own lines with a variety of kits you can mix and match. The best part is, to my ear I cannot tell the difference from real live drums. I may re write the drum line for this one day, but I am too busy as of late. Thanks again for your honest opinion, it is always appreciated.

Sounds really PRO Guy. It was a blast laying down the solo parts and exploring different sound options for this. It was much fun. Thanks again for letting me take a small part in the final production of this brilliant piece of songwriting.
My hat's off to you for such a masterful production.
guygrooves
I love how humble you are lol. You played no small part in this my friend. It goes back to you being kind enough to help me achieve a guitar sound for my hard rock sound. Taking the time to help anybody who asks for it, and just being the super nice guy you are. I will always hope and pray you stay with the game, and keep trying and auditioning and putting bands together. Someone with your talent should be able to make a solid living doing this. I hope you might put a demo together and shop it to all the studios you can find. You will get work, just play the numbers game bro. In today's world you really don't always have to travel to get work. I guess what I am saying is "wrap your thumb around it and GO!! " Offer your services to as many people, bands, and studios that you can. I have been playing for 25 years and if I ever had a lead guitar like you, I would have made sure I did everything I could to keep you. I really think you underestimate your ability. You are by far the best I have ever worked with. Your licks are original, well thought out, intelligent and truly your own, and that is so very very rare. THANK YOU very much for your time and talent.
Peace

I agree with some previous comments about this one. Has very nice classic style and good pop sense. Most of the songs I have ever heard, and all the ones I've done could be better, which is why it's nice to hear this one make the way down the road toward perfect. I also think you should leave all versions. Why not? Hearing the song (and you) move ahead is a treat. Thanks!
guygrooves
I am happy you like it and in retrospect I think you and Brian are right. I will leave them all up. Thanks for your time.

Great guitar work with a really neat solo. Top stuff, very catchy

When a song grows on me from the first few bars and keeps growing right through to the last chord then you got me and guess what......YA GOT ME! Nice one fellas! Brian, Chris, Michael and Guy. Hey guys, give us an album, why not!
guygrooves
Thanks for stopping by and for the kind words. I hope your 09 is better than your 08.
I would love to do an album with all of the collaborators who worked on this. I guess stranger things have happened. I actually have one more version of this with Chris and Michael and a new Macjammer, Banjo player extraordinaire "kappy" and I am very excited about it, although I am sure everyone is a bit tired of all the versions lol. I am afraid I am looking like I am a tad obsessive lol.

Great colab guys. Tasty lead guitar work Chris! I admire your restraint. Solid as usual Mike! Your effortless sound is inspiring. I know how much you put into what you do but, you still manage to make it sound effortless. Nice song Guy Grooves! I'll keep an eye out for more of your tunes.

OK, I was thinking there is no way we could have done this, but hearing it done this way... I think we could have done this in the metal band we were in together back in '98. Wow, makes me sound old... FOR THE RECORD I WAS ONLY 20! :)
I love this version Guy, your technical skills are better than ever!
guygrooves
Great to have you here bro and If we had a different drummer i think we would have done an even better version. There is one more to come with banjo filling out the rhythm section
Peace

Everything fits great together here. Your voice sounds nice and clear also. This almost has a Jimmy Buffet type thing going on. Nice work.
guygrooves
A few years ago I walked into a coffeeshop and had a stranger tell me I looked like Jimmy too. I am flattered you think I sound like him. Thanks again!

Guy, this is it! This is the pinnacle of what MJ's is about. If I was sitting in the car and this came on the radio I'd be listening intently for the artist and song title, with a view to getting straight on iTunes to purchase it when I got home. But I don't have to - I get a free download! Awesome.
A beautiful tune, beautifully produced, played and sung. I've said it before but this evokes the great Gene Clarke. I'm spellbound. Bravo
guygrooves
I am very flattered and happy you took the time for a listen. Watch for one more version of this to drop very soon.
