Description
Confidante and BASS ACE Neil "Drivin' Wheel" Porter brings on Ladles Full of Sweet, Hot Bass that Roll Out the Door, when It Opens." to this momentary Glance of a Memory that unexpectedly Comes Walking Through the Door (Real Life: BUFFALO ROADHOUSE, Seventh Avenue South, circa 1972).

The song, however, dates from last week! Funny, these things. It's another COFFEE HOUSE song gone ROAD HOUSE (our specialty). It's got some ERIC ANDERSON and some BAND in it. No Frills.

Best Regards,
Cooper

Lyrics

INTIMATE ANYWAY
Long ago. Far away.
Just walked through the door
Seeing you, I’m on guard
And looking at the floor
The night you slipped away
A starry night outside Santa Fe
I did my best; I thought I understood your ways

But, here you are
Just one face
In a crowded room
A crowded room now gone to spinning
Ah, I can’t understand
How it is you take command
Of my heart so effortlessly
New York City is a distant cry
From when you left without good-byes
Why you’re here tonight, I can only fail to imagine

What brought you, here?
What hope may be?
I can no way know
But as you draw near
I hope it’s clear
I no longer really care

My address has long since changed
Your place has been rearranged
You’re an intimate stranger
But stranger, anyway
Intimate is a curious word
Curious to use
But it means the same
Come win or lose
I wouldn’t never hurt someone
Cause it’s easier than Truth’s hard gun
I wouldn’t add to the task of misery

What brought you, here?
What hope may be?
I can no way know
But as you draw near
I hope it’s clear
I just no longer really care

Coop does it again
I always enjoy playing with you on these Coop. This one has a different feel from what we usually do - it just had an underlying drive that was screaming to be released when the drums kicked off. Would love to do this live - may even do so with my "band of grandpas"!

Keep em coming Coop!

This is kind of weird Coop - I suspect my current post also comes from that period - maybe a year earlier. Long distance mutual flashbacks perhaps! :0

IT'S CURIOUS, YA KNOW
YEAH,
I think Neil and I are Brothers from Different Mothers!
He's a Natural to work with, for me. Cross-pollination is inevitable.

Thanks so much for the Note.

I think I've been there...
It's like you'd like to care again, but you just can't. Great imagery/lyrics. Loved it, and the lead out over the Drivin' Wheel's cruisin' machine. Cheers, my friend.

diggin' it
This sound is as cool and raw as it gets. Your guitars are honest and the sound you get from them very much to my liking. Very good melody/composition. I kept thinking I could point out something I thought it sounded like, but gave up. It just works as it is. Sassy soloing:)

Perfect!

Neil - good job on the guitar with those fat strings:)

My BLUES MASTER from SCANDINAVIA
IT started out pretty Folk and sounds pretty Pop, here.
It gets pretty conversational, which is pretty Dylan-like, but, the progression is more Garth Hudson than that.

Dunno. It all happened fast, though (really a WiP to be finished later).

Thank You for the Note and Merry Christmas, Over There!

What a comfort
to hear your voice again. Great tune Coop. The lyrics are wonderful - man I wish I could write like that - and the production and playing is perfect. Keep it simple - keep it true. Nice solo too.

HEY, BROTHER
LONG TIME.
How's the Film Biz?
I've missed you.

YEAH, it's really a WiP (there's already a new version - clearer Lyrics and presentation)
BUT
NEIL's Really Busy (I think the Muse MOVED IN, over there!) He's ROCKIN'!

Thanks for the Note, Brother.

Very Best Regards to You,
Coop

Thanks RT
Your voice is a comfort. I'm always glad to hear you.

Wow that guitar solo is just like a person singing.

What a gift you have. Talent, yes, but not just talent. What you have is expressiveness. I hear a lot of talented guitar players, but expressiveness - that's the key to a good guitar player.

GOOD HEAVENS

What a very nice thing to say.
I don't know what to say.

The guitar tells you how it feels because my voice just can't do it, is sort of the deal we've worked out together. I wish I could sing, but it's a comfort to have the guitar,eh?

I'm off to bed, feeling pretty nice, now.
You're very kind.

With my humble appreciation for your note,
Cooper

age is timeless
age is timeless when it comes to a good song,

i like how the song holds back until we hit the guitar solo, giving a more unrestrained and openess.

excellent song and excellent work guys.

Nice slow burn
Great sound on this one, Coop! Solid rhythm section, great sounding guitars, your inimitable vocals and a killer lead on the outro. Really nice song- especially like the way it builds.

The only suggestion I would make is maybe adding some B3 sounds in there- I think they would sound excellent on this one... and it's a great sounding song already.
