This song leaves me speechless! In a good way! But, what is the appropriate amount?

Love the photo....is that in the car off to run errands?

The apartment I'm staying in has cable (which I would never have chosen to have), so I watch a lot of news...I'm emotional, so I cry (of joy on election day, of sadness all other days), but have to get right back to lesson planning, or job searching, or scooping litter or whatever...like I can only be me (musical, creative, curious) for a little while before I have to get back to the other crap that's not me...
Anyway, yup, that's me on the way to DOING stuff...

Yes, I wish I could make a living as a singer, not fame or fortune, just a living, but I have to pay my bills in the mean time...
Thanks for your down-to-earth post.

Hi,
Great subject to write a song about! I think everybody will relate to this.
The feeling and sound you captured with this recording was very real. Sounded like you could have been in the same room.
Nice tone and playing
estellie
Nice to meet you here. I'm happy you thought the recording had an intimate sound. I'm still learning how to produce my own songs...

...to add "sing" to your list - maybe if you add "sing and ..." before each to-do, it might be more bearable? I feel your pain because you are so right. Add a few kids into the formula and the list gets really long.
I always enjoy hearing your chord progressions and the way your voice works with it. You are so talented.

adding singing to work makes it bearable, yes.
And what a nice compliment you give me.

To Do. Life can be so bombarding at times and i really think these lyrics capture the everyday work/struggles/happenings. Great Progression, Great Lyrics. Kudos.
estellie
It's good to remind myself that I'm not alone.
We're all trying to balance work and the life that we fit in between...or hopefully, vice/versa.

this is a great song. i love the concept and the melodies, vocals and guitar parts are great. this is perfect with this sparse arrangement, but i can also picture it with a full set up. can totally relate to the lyrics, seems like my whole life is a to-do list at times, and the news for me is either hilarious or just pushes me over the edge. lately i have been thinking about going back to get my graduate work done, and the thought of that, having another kid, moving somewhere more amenable to raising kids, etc... has put me in a very fragile anxiety prone state. this sums up much of it. great track.

I just got my master's in poetry...getting your degree will be a wonderful time in your life, if you're doing what you're passionate about. and if you make room for love and life (yourself, your number one lady, and your little ones).
take frequent breaks and ease off on the anxiety. It doesn't get you anywhere (I KNOW). live in the moment you have, no use killing yourself over tomorrow.
this is stuff we all know intellectually, but it's good to be reminded, yes?
estellie
Thanks for saying it could also have the full set up. I know it sounds kind of folksy, but in my head I can hear it sounding like a b-side to Radiohead's The Bends, where it starts out kind of cool but jaded, climaxes near the end with drums and electric guitars going crazy and then comes back down...
michael2
that's exactly the direction i heard. let me know if you want to try and get it that way.

the intro sounded something reminicent of old radiohead, nice chords i was diggin the melody.. you have a gorgeous voice, very soft and full of emotion.. very nice tune..
estellie
You know I heard that too, the first time I played back the recording to myself I realized it sounded like something off The Bends.
I'm glad you liked it. I liked your new one!
rsorensen
especially those chords and how they resolve. awesome vocals. you sound really relaxed here. great song!
Ibstrat
This is really good.Very creative lyrics, you have an amazing voice.
estellie
Thanks for the compliments.
I enjoyed "Back Porch Cat".

As others have said this is a very interesting chord progression. fine vocal and also a very interesting, creative lyrical idea. The real strength is your vocal which is as melodic, and floaty as always but also a little husky - which I love.
I would love someone to get a hold of this song and do the full production job on it - it deserves it.

My pet project is to make a demo album, but do it right...I'm glad you enjoyed.
Thanks for the careful listen to the vocals, lyrics, and progression.

I like your voice. I am a sucker for harmonies. Nice chord progressions between verse and chorus. I am glad I stopped by.
Rayelise
your voice in this is amazing. I love the emotion. Even though it is a simple song, it hits quite deep.

First a crit I had a little trouble understanding your lyrics maybe a little on the low end and it kind of muffled the words alittle . Guitar sounds great nice recording . I really like your voice ..Im extremely partial to female vocalists ......I love Joanna Newsome and Bijork that kinda voice with soul and I feel your in that category ...you sing with a passion that really shines through even if you were singing nonsense talking in tounges I could still understand what you were saying . Beautiful song and cool concept as well :)
