Here we have it,
The ‘zenith’ of various players, joining together, around a common theme.
My theme,… but the final sound is a creative conjunction, of talents. Capturing a live feeling, where players feel the others vibs and go with it,( all in the privacy of home) culminating here! Get Ready. Set. Indulge!
What I wouldn’t give to sit night after night and rehearse songs with this Quintet!
BUT
THE MAN awaits in the AM, there is a huge snow storm on its way, one of my kids is throwing up tonight, and my wife is 500 miles away on business, so this internet thing is gonna be my venue TGFMJs ;)
Many thanks go to these fine/easy going collaborators
In order of appearance …I think?
Damien: http://www.macjams.com/artist/damiengh
All Flutes, and Tenor Sax in the Intro, perfect energy with the sax parts. This is my first collab with Damien. Thanks man! Perfect playing! Glad you dug up a flute! Sweeeet flute soloing! Just what the tune needed.
B. Flat: http://www.macjams.com/artist/B.+Flat
The Archback man. Also my first collab with Donald /fine playing (I am listening to Kenny Burrell /Greensleves while I type /cosmic) Don’s fine guitar is featured throughout. There is a bit of my guitar playing in the tune. You can tell my Strat right out. All the good playing is Don.
Bass2x http://www.macjams.com/artist/Bass2x
What can I say? James was involved in my first collab here at MJs, the Tune…’Temo’ with RCAndrews, what a trip that was. James is simply great. He helps to fulfill my Miles fantasy. Thank you sir! Your playing is soooo cooool!
iG.STUDiO http://www.macjams.com/artist/iG.STUDiO
Always on the money, Ilya.
I love the tone you get with that tenor, and now you have become a creative force with the EWI to boot. I really dig the way you play off of James horn right near the ending and the tag at the fade is awesome! Thanks for your continued support. Your playing is primo.

Tim, the mix is stellar. Very organic, like you guys did sit down together and worked it till it gelled. You very much captured a live feel, both in ambience and spontaneity. Kudo's to all, some very fine playing
timothy devine
This was a lot of fun to do, and i was wondering if it all works. Thanks for giving a listen.
some rough spots but thats what you get, what you get, when you get, what you get.

Oooohaaaaa, this is cool playing guys. Great impro's and it's fine when you all meet up at the theme at some places. Digging this groove.
Seems to be some disagreement on some timing issues going on in the parts where the perc is left out when the theme is on, especially in the intro. But then you all agree on the pace and you flow with the groove.
timothy devine
i here some of the timing issues/ i was thinking about doing some parts over but had to let the project go/ it was killing me/
if we could all look each other in the eye and try it one more time please... hehehehe
thanks for your visit

thanks bro
see you next time

Thanks for the privilege of letting me play on one of your relaxed, mood-setters. Got me thinking about practicing more, "thinking" the keyword here, as opposed to action. Time, time, time, wanna sell me some??
Well the piece, at least for the moment, gave me the allusion that one could step off the merry-go-round, and just float. Thanks for the respite.
timothy devine
way cool to find your pics on your page
i think you are such a cool dude
I am so glad we finally got to do this
your flute arrangement is just so energetic and your sax tone rocks
thanks for making it all work
great playing

'Right on with the Right on'. I'm digging this to the max. There's "Cool" my brotha's, but this is literally cool relative to a vibe native to the 70's pre disco "start the revolutionism" . Peace, love and invite me to your pad so I can drink the nectar of groove among you. This is jam is SUPER BAAD. Nuff said. Brotha's

...you DID make it sound like a live recording. Wonderful collaborative efforts all around --- nice leads and such a cool "feel" to the whole production. It started out as a little counterpoint operation, and each contributor found a precise way to feel into the whole...Love the bass!!! Congratulations to all for such great work. Very VERY much enjoyed the skill each of you displays here. DO IT AGAIN.
Peace.
Paul

Thanks for listening.
I hope to set up another tune soon/all the contributers really made it work with there tasteful talents

Love that strat tone and those jazz riffs. Splendid arrangement with a chilled vibe. That bass sounds fat too. Sax is fitting and sounds great in the mix. Sweet collab guys.
timothy devine
I have fun with the bass and sometimes think i was born to play bass
but i have trouble staying at home if you know what i mean
i get too creative/ thats why my tunes get out there, i think
thanks for stopping in and listening
drakonis
I adore the late night jazzy feel of the wandering tune, and the way everybody plays so loose, but in a really tight way... how do you do that? Great bass work, super guitars, but the trumpet, flute and sax work really caught my ear... superb work all around. Why does this sound always evoke images of dark sparkly rain-washed city streets, late at night? What a treat it is to pull together such great musicians for something like this... Viva Macjams indeed! Great great piece of music Tim!
ttfn,

What a lucky strike getting those other fine musicians to swing and sway in a jazzy way. I thought it was mellow and inviting and relaxing. Uh, huh! Thanks to all.
timothy devine
you have a way with words
having others play on my tunes bonifies the tune for me and makes it more enjoyable for me to listen to.

I was always the laid back one

TX to All for this collab which I find -superb !!!!! So relaxing...just closing your eyes listening gives the best of it to me , really enjoy this !! : )
& the icing is the great ending - thats an extra spice: ) (that isn't easy , so many songs would be so much better if the endings were more worked on)
Kudos !!!
timothy devine
your right about closing your eyes
if you listen to music with eyes closed it a always seams more like an adventure or a journey
That ending was all iG.STUDiO/Ilya
what a great idea
i like endings too
the Beatles had a knack for cool endings, or was it George Martin
check out what john lennon did on "A Day in the life"

Seems like the groove gets groovier...things are both looser and tighter... A very, very nice listen... I love the guitar playing, and that sax is really nice, not only the notes but the tone... The flute bits against the sax with the tambourine take me straight back to Low SPark of High-Heeled Boys...
Ed
timothy devine
Thanks for visiting. You got me listening to 'low spark' man, what a great record!
it must b seeping out of me somehow
some kind of subliminal gb flashback maybe
You say the groove gets groovier cause/there is one place where Ilya playes his EWI just into the second half (where the flute solo begins) a few measures in it gets real funky kind of subtly...ILya/very cool player.
thanks Ed
jiguma
Lots of cool stuff going on here - "Low Spark" jumped out at me too Ed. Some MJers here that I haven't listened to much - will have to do some more investigating. As Thor said, there are some places where the timing sounds a little uncertain. I'd love to hear this with a real drummer to add some percussive variation and to bring everything together a bit more.
Some very cool playing!

Way ... kewl ... but then again so are all the players ... way kewl ! It all pulled together so smoothly ..... what a great way for me to start off Beer Friday !
timothy devine
have u stopped drinking beer yet???
love u'r visits

thing sounds great.A fantastic combination.
sonnyjim
This is very fine: loose, right and totally groovy. That opening riff strikes the perfect combo of insistence and improbability.... listening on the quicktime player so I don't have times, but, when the whole thing settles down to the guitar with trumpet it could go on forever.... great delay on the trumpet here. Parts of this are like a Crimson jam from the early 70's, with the band spacing out and then rediscovering the thread. I'm amazed and lost in the flow. (Totally cool Ralph Towner-esque Prophet Horns run at the end there, too.) Beautiful stuff! Thank you for this!
echoroom
What a roster of stars, and what a great track. Lots of space for all the players (man, that sax is soo sweet) and a really nice groove... let me know when your next club date is... i'm there!

...or is it the dream of a tune that I've sooo been wanting to hear at this little virtual joint...
Groovin good! Got me tingling all over. I like what Karmatoburn said about how it sounded like you all sat there until it gelled. And gel it did!
Guitar and bass man both played big in giving it a very warm and live feel. Excellent job, guys.
Diggn' the Mark Isham feel w/ the trumpet. Very tastefully done.
Damien. Man... What don't you play. We be, way impressed. Nyyyyyce. Very nice, Sir.
Mr. igS, Very right on. Burn'n smokey sweetness to an as good as real, virtual scene. Guess I haven't listened enough of what you do. Sweet, indeed. Had I known... ...to be rectified.
Timothy... What to say... Great job, all the way around and back again. You done good.
Love Love LOVE the ending
Not that I could have come close to doing something like this, but I am all green however, I am sportn' I wide grin.
Huge thanks to all. Dion

Like the mix of players. Smooth vibe, cool changes. Main melody is very infectious making it possible for this to go another chorus or two with the kind of soloists you have working for you :) Great stuff, keeping this one!
Thanks
Bill
timothy devine
It is so cool to have you visit. This was great fun. I agree with you the soloist never get a long enough spot to stretch. My bad.
I started out thinking each player would solo in a particular spot, but we mixid it up a bit.
I think the result is a different style a freer more open style. I call it 'the brew'.
Nice words rom you my friend

Thanks for including me Tim on this spacey jam. The best part is the first listen after it's posted. I played against the rhythm track and to hear the other solos come in and out sounds very cool. Thanks again all y'all!

love the 70s sound in this. you definitely achieved what you set out to do with the live feel you were going for. really cool track guys. great horns and guitars. this will fit right in with my jimmy smith playlist. parts of this (ie the flute with the bassline) reminded me of my favorite soundtrack ever, 'Enter the Dragon'
timothy devine
I shall check out the sound track for sure
