I'm intrigued...you see, I clicked on this from the lists page b/c I saw the title and I'm an Oscar Wilde fanatic...I didn't even know this was yours; isn't that weird?
I have played around a little with computer generated poetry; in fact that might be fun to go back to, but I hadn't heard of computer generated music...this is interesting. I will have to look at the forum post for more details.
Anyway, this particular computer has obviously been affected by the picture of dorian gray. the composition is downright frightening!
thanks for posting this!

.. drew you in with just a title .. and it was me all along hehehe :)
Computer generated poetry you say? That sounds cool too .. might help with lyric writing/suggestions .. like an auto-thesaurus.
It's always cool to experiment I say and these tools help with just that. You do of course steer the computer generation, with decisions, choices of instruments (octaves/modulation/panning), parameters, tempo & degree of 'mosaic' influencing composition length, note filters from scales .. so you can 'go for' or 'push' the sound in a particular direction .. in my case the appropriate eerie, evil and sinister direction for Dorian Gray.
I've never in fact read all of "The picture of Dorian Gray" but it's on my to do list .. I found it online here
Thanks for the listen.

Mad sounds that are being created here. I too have read Oscar Wilde's book and this track would be the perfect soundtrack if a film was ever released.

.. for those that haven't: it's an awesome notion that all vile evils Dorian perpetrates don't tarnish his soul but instead affect/warp his portrait via some spooky link...and in the film they go further and imply he is immortal (as long as the painting is ok) as even all physical damage he receives is directed at his portrait.
A film soundtrack .. that would be nice :) Thanks for the compliment.

It is unfair the way the music lists handle multiple song posts. But I understand the reasons, so will not beg for an easy change. Both of these experimental pieces are quite interesting. I might give this a try.
Thanks

.. I didn't worry about that .. I wanted to post a couple .. so I did .. I should prolly cross-reference them with links. A couple of example pieces was enough fun.
Please give it a go by all means .. it's fun. I liked the notion of a more direct connection between art and music .. and it seemed to me to try "Dorian Gray" would be cool.

pretty strange stuff Alan - I actually really like it.
I can definitely imagine it as a film score - probably horror. Thanks for the listen.
Cheers

song pic: are you sure that's not a picture of you?
song: well, it's full of surprises! i love stuff like this - it makes you realize how much musical space there is - and how we all restrict ourselves to such a small part of the possibilities. sort of like how the Earth is a tiny place in this vast universe... and all that.
i'm glad you posted this one
thanks
