MAID OF METAL (MIRx/michael2)

Description
MIRx posted a song and it spoke to me. He was kind enough to send me his GB file all the way from Italy and I came up with a story to go with it. The story is about a guy who has a crush on a chick that he thinks is a cyborg. He's telling his friend and his friend is in disbelief and is kinda making fun of him.

The inspiration for this "love song" comes from TV nights at our house. Katy sits on the couch and I rub her feet, so she'll let me watch shows like Terminator: Sarah Conner Chronicles and sexy stuff like that. I assure my wife that she's the hottest cyborg I know and this is a twisted story about her if she were from the future and here to destroy me. I'd still fall in love with her

Whatever.

If this isn't twisted enough and if you're still reading, the song took and even more frightening turn when I was eager to share it with michael2. He and I are passionate about robots and girls and the end of the world, etc.... He laid the guitar track down on this song and scared me to death. I call him the King of the Post Apocalyptic Blues. It actually pulls all the color out of the song leaving only black and blue.

A friend of mine named Justin Peterson was forced to listen to yet another one of my projects and he took the file into GB on his computer and did things to it that also frightened me. I told him that he reminded me of the guy who was hired to design the cyborgs to be slaves to the humans and do our will. Justin installed a little chip in their hard drives that allowed them to think for themselves and to rise up against the humans. He's the one responsible for the heartbeat-like sound at the end and the robot voice and the KA-KLUNK at the very end.

Thanks again to Mirco for his original song Living In The Jungle. Thanks to michael2 and Justin for doing their thing whether or not it was for the good of mankind.

Lyrics
I MET A GIRL
- WHAT'S HER NAME?
I DON'T KNOW,
BUT I THINK SHE'S MADE OF METAL

- SHE'S MADE OF METAL?
YEAH, SHE'S HEAVY
- MAID OF METAL?!
I'M A MAGNET
SHE'S A PETAL

BETTER RUN, BETTER HIDE
LASER CANNONS ON HER SIDE
- SHE'S MADE OF METAL?
SEE HER MECHANICAL POWERS
STOMP THROUGH THE ASHES OF FLOWERS
- MAID OF METAL!

SMELL THE DIESEL FUMES
WHERE THE FLOWERS ONCE BLOOMED
- SHE'S MADE OF METAL?
FEEL THE NUCLEAR BREEZE
BLOW THROUGH THE VAPORIZED TREES
- MAID OF METAL!

SHE'S GOT A DIGITAL STARE
AND VIRTUAL BLACK HAIR
- SHE'S MADE OF METAL?
HER FLAT SCREEN EYES
CAN ONLY MESMERIZE
- MAID OF METAL!

I KNOW SHE'S PROGRAMMED TO KILL
AND IT SHOULDN'T BE A THRILL
- SHE'S MADE OF METAL?
SHE HAS THE STRENGTH OF AN ARMY
BUT SHE'S STILL RATHER CHARMING
- MAID OF METAL!

I MET A GIRL
- WHAT'S HER NAME?
I DON'T KNOW,
BUT I THINK SHE'S MADE OF METAL

- SHE'S MADE OF METAL?
YEAH, SHE'S HEAVY
- MAID OF METAL!
I'M A MAGNET
SHE'S A PETAL

BETTER RUN, BETTER HIDE
LASER CANNONS ON HER SIDE
- SHE'S MADE OF METAL?
SEE HER MECHANICAL POWERS
STOMP THROUGH THE ASHES OF FLOWERS
- MAID OF METAL!

The Internet is Awesome and This Proves It
This is the best song description I've ever read and I will lay awake tonight pretending I am a cyborg and replaying it in my mind.

I've seen pictures of Katy, there's no whatever about it, she is a hotty mchottentot. If you put your hand on her metal exterior, you would receive a rather painful burn, my friend. She is that hot.

Now for the song. I haven't heard the original, but a lot of the sounds in the song definitely sound metallic and I love the merger of lyrics with the tone of the music. I love the conceit of dude+disbelieving dude having a dialogue. I would never have thought of doing that in a million years which is why you have five arms and I have the normal two. This is really super-catchy, too. Michael's guitars rule, as per usual, but it's fun to hear him playing something so heavy. Favorite lyric? It's tough to choose! I love "She has the strength of an army/but she's still rather charming," and "See her mechanical powers/stomp through the ashes of flowers". Ashes of Flowers would actually make a rather awesome band name.

Ashes of Flowers
You are way too kind, Lisa. I often wonder what people will think when I describe my creative process. I don't know what to say, but thank you. MIRx and m2 made this song work so well for me and I just had a blast putting the lyrics together and I'm glad it's keeping you up at night thinking about cyborgs.

Katy is indeed a hotty mchottentot and now I have a brand new nickname for her!

Thanks!

Bob

that epic sci-fi stomper is sure to be a major hit (and turn-on) among all robots. This is just the kind of things that gives them ideas and confidence! Then, when they will have taken over, you'll be the last human entertainer allowed on earth and you'll be doing Vegas shows in front of all kind of booty-shaking machines. Could This Be...
The theme for T4? You know I love this kinda stuff and your immense collab does not disapoint. I agree with the Daft Punk comparison, but what grabs me (i.e. one of the many cool going's on here) is the Doors 'Break On Through' riff that is predominant. But then, like jazz, the listener is dragged off to somewhere else, like this unspecified metallic chick (I vote 'tungsten') appears to do - I am grabbed in the clutches of this song. Great story!

Love the breakdown. And the small but effective voice right at the end.

DL'd. A treat!

Thanks for listening. There are at least 6 drum tracks on this tune and I felt like they were pretty punchy when I got the file. I think it was what made me want to do my own version of MIRx's original.

for a song. I read an article not long ago about scientists developing sex robots. Perhaps this can be their jingle when mass-marketed.

Bob,
This is a tour-de-android-force my friend. The guitar mayhem by michael2 is indeed disturbingly raucus and heavy. I think this is one of your most complex pieces so far, if not in description (!) then in musical mood changes and shifts of dynamics. My one critique (and I ALWAYS seem to have one, don't I?) is that your vocals are a little muffly and sit pretty far back in the mix. While most of your song's vox seem to be mixed back farther than most (and that is your call obviously) I think that the high end spectrum of the EQ dial could be used to brighten it and make it more in keeping with the crisp-metallic-ness of the song, while still not making it much 'louder' as it were.

Anyway, monsterous song. I love it. One of your best yet!

Thanks for letting me just take that great song of yours and have my way with it. The moment I heard it, I felt like it belonged to me and I am very happy that you were cool enough to send me your GB file. Sharing GB files is a fantastic experience.

I'm a magnet, she's a petal - wow, I'm genuinely blown away by the response to that lyric. I feared it would be perceived as a stupid rhyme but I guess it makes sense to more than just me! Thank you for the kind words.
