Description:
This is a more considered version of my recent post - the bridge has been tidied up and it now features the MacJams Pub Chorus in the outro. Its still pretty loose though :)
Thanks to Anne Cozean, rtcooper, Thor Oliversen, Helena Brandstedt, Dave Maguire, Matk Holbrook, Damiengh and Ed Moran for providing the chorus.
Still the same song basically, but better produced. Just figured it would be nice to give people a better copy to download.
Sing along and enjoy.
Happy Christmas everyone!
Neil

Lyrics:
Throw Your Shoes© 2008 Neil Porter
If you see him in a crowded mall
If you see him on the street
If you see him at a restaurant
Take your shoes right off your feet
When you see him in a traffic jam
There’s no need to be discreet
Just keep the bastard in your sights
And liberate your feet
Throw your shoes
You know you want to
Throw ‘em straight and throw ‘em hard
Throw your shoes
There ain’t no trophies, gongs or prizes
But it’ll make you feel
A whole lot better
Lose your footwear
Launch it like a missile
For every helpless child and woman
Buried in Iraq
One for each dead soldier
And a thousand for Katrina
The rest for selling out the world
I'll see you out the back!
Hard to figure how you ever got there
The “leader of the free world” they say
I don’t believe just what you did there
To the free world!
Some dancin’ shoes for Freddie Mac
Something cute for Fannie Mae
A sneaker for democracy
And a boot to see you on your way
No more shoes?
You can find another missile
Toss it, lob it, hurl it, pitch it
Tell him how you feel
Throw your shoes
You know you want to
Throw ‘em straight and throw ‘em hard
Throw your shoes
There ain’t no trophies, gongs or prizes
But it’ll make you feel
A whole lot better

I'm so glad you did this before Lou Reed and John Cale did.
Beautifully performed music. Fantastic vocals and that guitar is amazing.

Got rid of a whole closet full of shoes that I've been storing for a long long time.

I, pretty much, cannot stand "'topical" songs.
The WIT, available in abundance here, proves the exception.
I sent the demo around to friends who Loved or Abhorred it! (Good Sign).
From the Get-Go, the guitars tell you mischief is afoot. And so it is.
Makes you wonder if the people around the activist reporter thought for a moment to offer up More Shoes!
Love this piece.
A gentleman's Justice, well represented; superbly presented.
Great Soundstage.
Guitars with Legs.
Bright Vocal present.
Just One Fine Piece.
Highest Compliments,
Cooper

I loved it Neil :-)
An entertaining political song. Difficult to pull off but you managed it brilliantly.
And a great choir.....
Cheers

Such a list of "accomplishments" probably deserves rotten fruit, but shoes are the missile of choice today!
Merry Christmas

that this might have lost its spontaneous 'feel' - but it hasn't - sounds fantastic. I agree should be a number one hit.
Cheers

...you said that outloud...LOL...
Great job, Neil and MJRs.
I don't think that I ever mentioned how much I like the guitar in this. Great job. Also, I didn't listen to to lyrics as closley as I did this time.
You so clever, sir. excellent!
Sending it to my friends now. There, that's what I think about it.
Thanks again, Neil! I feel a whole lot better. Macca

Hi Dion,
it was "kick" - hit probably would have been better, but my inner self got the better of me.
:)
All my very best wishes to you and yours this Christmas - have a great 2009!

even better now. Thanks for the DL.

But I don't think it's funny...
Good guitar work. I like the "ska" type rhythm and the guitar melody throughout the song. I thought your delivery was great during verse and first chorus.
"Hard to figure how you ever got there
The “leader of the free world” they say
I don’t believe just what you did there
To the free world!"
Sounds off to me in terms of delivery.
Overall, good stuff... 8/10
