Description:
Happy Christmas to one and all!

This is a cello improvisation that I did after waking up to the first big snow here in Colorado. It was intended for a collaboration that I hope will still follow... but I wanted to post a solo cello version of it as well. I hope you find some repose in it during this crazy yuletide season.

Hardware:
19th Century Czech cello, Sterling Audio ST55 Condenser Mic, and fields of snow.

Software:

Excellent solo...
But wait... was this a single recording? because at 0:16, I hear a single legato note being played simultaneously with a separate melody line on a different string... I know that can be played, but it is still really striking and impressive to hear. Love the strong vibrato here and there, very strong melody line. And in some ways, this seems to create warmth against the cold. Nice rich tone, nice depth in playing... I like it! Sounds like all the strings are there again! :-) I'm in line to collab with you... I'll be writing something for you to flaunt your expert cellosity!

Drakonis

It is a tecnique called "double stopping" that I have been working on. Ironic term - but that's what it is called. I eagerly await our next collaboration my friend!

As I stated earlier, it is the most intimate instrument for me. What other instrument do you have to caress with your whole body in order to play?

Sonorous
A cello has such a beautiful dark sound. Goes well with the time of year.

you play
with passion. this is gorgeous. deep and brooding. all of your songs always have a wonderful sense of space and room to move and breathe. but most especially these meditative pieces. you have a real ability to find the space between notes and let it have it's moment. you're getting a beautiful sound from the cello - sounds like you're really figuring things out with the mics and getting back your cello chops! can't wait to hear more.
