Description:
I couldn't resist another go at Bryn's tracks that he offered up a while back as an open collab - http://www.macjams.com/song/48189. This is partly a remix of my first mix Baby Baby - and partly a whole new thing with added instrumentation and copious effects. This is not a skylab piece, though it might have been - but Philadelphia is only a two hour drive from here. Instead it's a hotel mix during a two night stay at the Warwick in Philly during the same project that led to the previous piece "skylab".
Thanks again to Bryn for his juicy tracks.

This caught me off guard. Amazing stuff
I have to go out house hunting right now...I will return later with a proper comment
But for now
Wow
bud
do you listen to house music? Sorry Byn - cheap shot. Thanks again for the fine material to work with.

This is a brilliant mix. Love the reversing noises and sounds. The melodies in the backround help to contain the mix and the beats esp the hihats keep the track moving forward. Very good track Bud, really like.
bud
I only just caught up to your ambient version. Beautiful.

Had the impression of thousands of pipes towering around, in the air… yes, it could have been a skylab piece. I loved it.
bud
glad you liked it - I like your image of towering pipes.
rsorensen
I like it. getting a cold feeling listening to this. nice job
bud
I had a weird idea of bending this into Christmas music somehow - even added sleigh bells near the end.
Vic Holman
A real trippy treat. kind of a alien circus coming through town. man, there is a lot of great sounds going on through out this piece.
bud
gives new meaning to turn-down service. Thanks Vic.

oh man Bud - this is so WAY COOL! When you put these two awesomely creative musical brains working together in the same file - WOW! I can't begin to comprehend what you've done here to make this what it is, but I'm very appreciative of the outcome! Great work!
bud
but correct about Bryn - he's amazing. Mostly I played around with the Automatic Filter effect in GB and added some loops here and there along with reversing stuff in Audacity.
LunaTrick
I like what you've done here... very tasteful and effective!
bud
hope you're having fun.

just seen a film about Philadelphia! It looked inspiration to me, I'm liking this musical diary and as always your approach to music production.
bud
so the diary has reached an end I'm afraid. Glad you enjoyed the trip. Thanks for dropping by.

Baby Baby is a surprisingly versatile starting point. This mix is particularly spacey with lots of interesting synths and percussion. Enjoyed this a lot!
Thanks

blend in this surreal soundscape. I didn't hear the original, but this is full and interesting all the way through. Kudos to you both and your mix-ter machine.

Where to start
1) I love how you have my voice sound like Jon Hassell's trumpet at the beginning.
2) I think the way you have turned the beat around is an excellent twist that I wouldnt have considered.
3) I like the repeating fog-horn tones that some how give this piece a grounding that works very effectively
4) The psychedelic gamelan/sitar like sounds and reversed instruments put me in mind of the beatles sgt pepper filtered thru the residents duck stab EP...all grand stuff...
5) All the time the original elements keep trying to poke their head above the magic stuff you have layered on top and they are not really allowed to (except in a much mutated form) until the end. For me this gives the track a healthy tension that truly transforms the 40 second original into something else entirely
THANK YOU
bud
I'm glad you like what I've done here and didn't just think it was a big bowl of soup.
But wait - that's not all!
DJ French Toast and I have just finished a collab with the tracks - watch his page for posting.
You really started something this time.
Dj French Toast
