Can't believe you play this stuff on an electric!!!
Ibstrat
actually your cello piece inspired me to go back and play some Bach- this gavotte is from one of the cello suites.
Feter

Ibstrat
Sorry the album thing is just a joke!
Elevator_Funk
It's hard to get the right feel when playing this style on electric. I agree with feter, you have excellent touch with those fingers to be able to pull this one off.
Ibstrat
i appreciate your comments!

This is fantastic! I am really impressed, and it's a pleasure to hear you play this on electric. Very clean, with wonderful, completely controlled slurs.
The only suggestion I have is to try playing the bass notes slightly detached (you do this some of the time anyway), so that they don't continue to ring when the bass line changes strings... This is, of course, very hard to do, as I know, so maybe it's not even possible at this speed.
This is a piece I have heard a lot, but you do such a fine job that I found it thoroughly enjoyable from start to finish.
Ibstrat
Clark. You are right about the bass notes- I've gotten a bit lazy about that.Hopefully I will someday be able to play a real classical guitar again!
Skean
Yes :-) WOW :D)

It is pure magic the things you pull out of those six strings. It is delightful to listen to. Peaceful.
Bravo!
Ibstrat
for continuing to listen I appreciate it!
Moviz
to say this is another string added to your bow, because I haven't heard you play this style before. Sounds as though you master touched this alright and with wonderful dexterity; excellent playing Mark, regards M
Ibstrat
Moviz- I really like your new song!
mowguy3
What you do with a guitar is fantastic. Nothing to say that has not been said. You blow me away.
Thanks and be well, Russ
Ibstrat
a lot for the comment and for listening to me play.

Once again, you've done a beautiful piece of music - I can't imagine doing anything like this on an electric (or on an acoustic for that matter).
Happy New Year to you and yours Mark.
Cheers,
Neil
Ibstrat
New Year and thanks for the comment!
MarkHolbrook

Well played, Mark...thanks...
Ibstrat
Bob- I always enjoy your comments!

Even if it is Baroque. Smooth fingering makes the old melodies new.
Thanks

Ibstrat
for listening Bill!

but was a great excuse to come back for another listen.
Ibstrat
for checking it out!

remind me so much of Jethro Tull? There's not even a flute on it
Very nice. Charming.
Ibstrat
sound a bit like the riff from "Mother Goose". I believe that Tull was a big influence on Bach.

...pleasure to hear a master guitarist playing Bach so beautifully!!! Wonderful. What a relief from many other things I have listened to today. More, please.
Peace.

Ibstrat
a master- listen to Julian Bream's version!I highly appreciate the comment though!

enjoy that around the circle type of folk dancin that this seems to present to me. Lots of nice chordal movement for sure. Bach is always adorable to play and with the electric guitar it shows that bach is timeless on multitudes of instruments including the electric guitar!
Ibstrat
sounds good on anything including harmonica.I'm still working on playing it half way decently!
kristyjo
I want a copy of that album! I'm sure Bach would've written for the electric guitar if it had been around in his day. This is just so good. Really nice and clean. The lines sing through, so I can let my attention wander from one to the other - very satisfying listening. Yes, I'm sure you have eight fingers on each hand :)
Ibstrat
So far the album is not real- maybe I should really record it.
blaky smith
guitarist playing !
Very nice piece Mark, a pleasure to listen, bravo...
And Happy New Year !
Marc
Ibstrat
very much.I'm a big fan of your music.

This is a rich mix... beautiful Bach finger style playing. So big kudos right off. I might suggest lessening the bass effect(?) in the mix... i.e. just a little brighter. Whether or not... your command of the strings on the fret of the guitar on your knee is truly enjoyable. Cheers...

Ibstrat
recording prowess is minimal thanks for the tip!
Ed Hannifin
...can play this faster...
In fact, he can play two gavottes, a bouree and a travesty in the time it takes for you to play this one piece... AND he can do it in Spandex... And his hair is bigger than yours...
He can also play it louder. Even so, I prefer the 'free jazz' approach of Nigel Tufnel...
I keep wondering, though, what it would be like if some of these Bach pieces for the electric guitar were transcribed for classical guitar or lute or harpsichord or something. We'll probably never know.
I WOULD buy 'Electric Lute Land', ya know. If you recorded it. I would pay money for it. I don't say that very often anymore, you know. Or do it, for that matter. Worth considering.

currently working on a tribute to Yngwie entitled "Way Way Way To Many Notes".It's very hard to play, it uses the Swedish harmonic scale, diminished arpigios, and excerpts from Pugununi's caprice #911.The metronome marking is 450.It may be a couple of years before I can play it fast enough to post it.I'll let you know when Electric Lute Land is completed!

Very nice rendition. It's interesting and delightful to hear an electric guitar play with such a soothing sound.
Ibstrat
very much for listening.
Mcboy
very clean and great performance.......rather hear this than malmsteen doing 900 miles per hour....here one can enjoy the notes and sound without convulsing.....very very kool..!
Ibstrat
glad you are back at macjams- you are one of my favorite artists.
bud
I'm blown away. What can't you do on electric guitar?
Ibstrat
Bud.I've got plenty of stuff I can't do!
PickQuickRecords
Your finger work is breathtaking!!
The speed and accuracy of your playing is mind blowing! The sound is so crisp and clear with the electric. Takes it to a new level.
Bob Rodgers
always look forward to hearing you play the guitar Mark and it's great to hear another excellent performance from you.
A lovely tone and superb playing, I very much enjoyed this!
