Madrigal for Lúthien Tinúviel. Thanks, Feter! I really appreciate that! If you want, I'll send you the midi so you can see how I composed it. It's pretty simple - I just started with a basic phrase then added variations, and let the instruments carry it. After I'd composed it as a midi, when I brought it into EWQLSO to give it more realistic-sounding instruments, I did modify the midi a little and added a couple of new instruments and the choir.

Descriptive of the dancing. I like the weaving lines. I was kind of hoping you'd sing on this one, but the instrumentals are very nice.

Thanks, Kris! I might do a version when I'm back in York with my vocals on, but I'm at my parents house for the christmas hols. I'm back in York next week, though.

Listening to this madrigal, it is also fitting that the name Lúthien appears to mean "enchantress" in the Beleriandic dialect of Sindarin!

Thank you very much, Luna!

Although it sounds a little bit MIDI-ish it simultanously gives a renaissance kind of atmospehere to it which suits the subject matter quite well.
I think it should be mentioned too that the story (of course) is part of J.R.R. Tolkien's world of Middle-Earth, in prose included in the Silmarillion while Lay of Leithan is a poem. I can recognize a few notes from one of the themes in the Lord of the Rings soundtrack, not as a rip-off but as a hint to all Tolkien fans out there.
It is of course also interesting to know that Tinuviel is an elf(daughter)...
Thanks, and have a fantas(y)tic 2009!
