Some texture guitar and vocals would fill it out. Check out my Third Degree song... which has some things in common with this!
PrototypeEightyOne
i didnt even see this comment, thanks for checkin it out and giving me some feedback. I'll def check out that track your talking about.

I was worried about where this was heading, but as things moved on it became really quite cool. Its kind of like a synth based song without the synths. Congratulations on getting this done in Cubase - to me a real monster of a program.
You could probably extend this a bit, but I have no real crits -sounds good to me.
Will try to listen to more of your stuff over the next few days.

thanks i appreciate it. it was just a jam session, to test out recording guitars and to get back into it so it is short..but then i ended up doing a couple sections added a couple vsts, and editting the guitar ( fixing pick velocity to keep it consistent ), and i think i want to turn it into a song. this was all done in a day..probally about 3 hrs.
cubase is a hefty program..im still new ive only had it for about 4 months now, at first it was very overwhelming ( manuel being roughly 750 pgs ). Im pretty comfortable with it now for basic mixing and editting, but still havnt delved into eveything it has to offer.
musichead
you know singing along side of this song would really be nice. You see. Im from the school of less is more. So I really liked this tune!!! The mix is fine...
PrototypeEightyOne
thanks, i appreciate it..ive rediscovered my love for playing guitar lol..( only wish i was better :P) and unfortuantly i cant sing.. but if you want, I can work on this add some variation to the bass, fill it out a bit more...and u can sing! Let me know if yoru down for it..if not its all good, i still have much work to do in the way of guitar driven songs. im so used to hip hop/vsts, that even this guitar song sounds like a synth composition with guitars lol ( as mentioned above )
lank81
I really enjoyed this. I love the nice driving base line. The Synth is great and the you did a fine job on the guitar.
PrototypeEightyOne
thanks dude i havnt touched a guitar in years, and never took any lessons or theory so its all by ear..So i appreciate that.
EEFliess
kind of Parliament/Funkadelic meets the B52's
PrototypeEightyOne
nice, thanks for the comparison!
magnatone
Nice job proto - this developed into some very interesting spaces that kept my attention. Keep up the guitar work - i look forward to hearing more!
PrototypeEightyOne
thanks magna, appreciate it..im going to expand on this idea.
TheDean
Interesting and creative. First time in years? I'm impressed.
PrototypeEightyOne
thanks! i try and be as creative and original as possible.. its a pretty generic bassline but i think i did a creative job on what surrounds the bassline..thanks again for listen and comment, its appreciated!

For some reason this reminds me of the more abstract grooves from the Repo Man soundtrack. Could definitely see this developed into a larger, complete song.
PrototypeEightyOne
cool thanks man, im hoping to expand this..if you like the vibe i think a sax would be killer in this :)
Feter
Great stuff ...loved the drivin bass ...nice colors with all the guitars
you add eventually ...very nice ...thnx alot for sharin !!!
PrototypeEightyOne
thanks feter! I like the color of the guitars too especially that one treblish one that can be heard near the start. Has a cool sound i think. hope i saved the plug in setting lol :P
TracyVosh
You rock my friend! You've made such a wonderful song here and you claim to not be very good? Well, I beg to differ. lol...you sound damn good! I'm excited for you, delving into this alternative rock territory!
PrototypeEightyOne
thanks tracy you always seem to get me hyped and motivated, especially when trying different things!..Its invigorating steering from hip hop/vsts and going to live instr..yes very exciting! i think i might have found a second home here in the world of rock. Might have to get into some linkin park/limp bizkit/rage type stuff.
kassia
this is excellent. I love all the different effects you've used on the guitar sounds. great blending of tones and textures. cool groovy beat and i love the little ambient sounds, the sax and beeps. cool stuff man. keep 'em coming.
PrototypeEightyOne
awesome, thanks kassia I appreciate the listen and comment and im glad u enjoyed it! btw i love that part with the sax and bleeps with the mild guitar. hoping to work on this one and expand it.
ted23
If this started out as just a test then it developed very nicely...
The mood you got going on is brill and to me it really does sound like your getting to grips with the software.
Nice one
PrototypeEightyOne
thanks for taking the time to check it out ted. i appreciate the comment. and yea, cubase is a monster but im out to train the savage beast! again thanks for chekcin it out, i'll stop by your page and check u out.
VicDiesel
but I get the impression the guitars are not all tuned to the same pitch.
PrototypeEightyOne
thanks for the good ears and honesty vic..i tuned the squire quickly, i just wanted to jam out and try my stab at guitar again. looks like i should spend more time on the preparation lol. i think its ight though, except it really shows on the quick strumming section.
lengold
groove - definitely worth expanding.
Cheers
Len
PrototypeEightyOne
thanks Len, i needed some encourament today..Good timing on the post. Trying to figure out how to eliminate clicks in a live instr created loop. ie seamlessly copying and pasting sections. seems to be a bigger job than i previuosly thought.
craft
this soundz really good.. Well done
PrototypeEightyOne
Thanks for the listen and comment Craft I appreciate that, and glad your diggin it. Im going to work on this one, and hopefully take it somewhere.
NewInfection
you do just fine on guitar. this song has a real improvised feel to it, and it is very cool texture-wise. i liked the smooth playing going on. sometimes the simplest rhythms are the most profound. a fine mix as well.
really liked this one, brother

Godchaser
I think this piece is very hip.I like the groove and your use of the guitar in and around all the other elements.Sometimes just diving in is better.Very much enjoyed this.
PrototypeEightyOne
thanks for checking me out godchaser and leaving your feedback. I agree, sometimes if u overanalyze it can lead to more problems and more to sift through. Glad you thought it was hip thanks dude.
