Description:
After my last little bouncy Christmas song, I thought I'd start the New Year with a more thoughtful song, which I've had on the boil for about six weeks. The problem was getting a suitable sounding backing for it (not being a pianist didn't help, as I think it would have been much better with a piano backing), so I deleted the pounding piano effort I'd done ( which sounded terrible ) and replaced it with my trusty 'cheapo' guitar which improved it no end. Hope you like it.... and a Happy New Year to one and all, M.
Lyrics:
Some People1. Some people wish for fame and fortune, but that won’t bring them happiness,
If they can only find contentment, they’ll know they’ve found success,
How do we find the things that satisfy, how can we feel complete?
By just accepting all that life brings; maybe we will feel ‘complete’.
2.Some long to feel the warmth of loving, feel the strength of someone’s arms.
Most times it seems to be a waiting game, ‘til someone blinds us with their charms,
How do we find the love that satisfies, that makes us feel ‘complete’?
We have to wait and see what life will bring, whether sad or sweet.
Bridge.
But life’s journey is long and wide,
Many things we will see,
We must choose which path we will walk,
To let our spirit be free.
3. If we don’t find what we intended, maybe that’s not what we need,
Life has a way of knowing, whatever life we ought to lead,
So never worry you won’t find it; whatever happens is meant to be,
Try to accept what you’ve been given,
Maybe then, you will be free.
Bridge (Instrumental)

Great voice! The reason you sound great at "73" is because you sounded great a "23" maybe twelve. : )

I'm glad you can appreciate this song, especially as the lyrics could come as condescending, with regards to your situation. That just shows your openness of mind and it shows us what a great guy you are. Thanks for the lovely words Feter and all the very best for the New Year, regards M

I was reading the lyrics as you sang and kept reading ahead. Love the lyrics and you sang them so well. Cheapo guitar ? It's how it's played and you did just a fine job. Thank you. Happy new year.
Be well, Russ
Moviz
I'm very pleased with the comments you make as I'd wondered if this song would be a bit to ponderous for ringing in the New Year, but it seems others too like it, which can't be bad. Thanks again Russ and all the Best to you and yours, regards M

Nice moving melody, very honest and truthful vocals, good arrangement. The lyrics and the vocals are truly what gets to me in this melody, and to me I could live with less of the arrangement with more focus on the vocals and the message. However, to voice is mixed a bit too high and with a bit too much treble. However, you sing wonderfully and I can feel the honesty in your voice. Good work!
Moviz
It really pleases me that you liked this and took time to visit.... your generous and considered comments are more than welcome, regards and best wishes, M

What a beautiful song Mo. Really nice. If I were mixing this, I'd bring up the guitar some [great playing btw] and drop the volume on the vox a tad. A minor thing really. I love the strings! Top song for 2009 Maurice. I d'led so thanks, and a good New Year to you. ;)
Moviz
this Dave, thanks very much for the constructive comments and I know what you mean about the volume, All the best for 2009, Regards M

I'm glad the acoustic won out. I think it's fits better then a piano would.

a warm, rich voice that carries the lyrics so well. I'm glad you decided to go with the guitar, cheapo or not. The string background is another classic touch that fits in so nicely. You just have a real sense of what fits together in an arrangement.
Moviz
of you Kristyjo: thanks so much for those welcome remarks.... I think the guitar was the better option in this one too, so again I thank you for your confirmation. Happy New Year to you and yours... and all your pupils, M

What can I say to all those nice compliments (and from one of the most talented here)... except that they're nicer than anything I got for Christmas. Thanks so much for that...... I really can walk with a spring in my step now, All the best to you and yours, M
richardhowardjones
If that's the sound you get out of a 'cheapo' acoustic guitar, you should do all my guitar mixing, 'ol buddy. Snare rolls especially effective here.
Moviz
see you around again Richard.... Thanks for those kind remarks, tho' mixing truly isn't my forte' LOL, must have been a bit of luck with the EQ, All the best, M

I listened to the song and then went back and read your description. The guitar is absolutely my favorite part. Works extremely well to set the mood. Like Audrey Hepburn playing/singing "Moon River" in Breakfast at Tiffany's.
Moviz
for the compliment. Glad you called here to listen and boost my confidence guitar -wise; have a very Happy New Year (love the two little cuties in your Avatar), regards M
