Description
I am reposting this one..... my first mix had a horrible misuse of volume in the bridge.... heh... thanks for listening.
as i said before, due to some unexpected issues involving my voice, i am doing some instrumentals till i get sorted...
this is a departure from my usual stuff..... a little on the different side for a metal head...
heh

First thing
that hits me is what a great mix this is. You are definitely getting to grips with Logic. Love the arrangement and spectacular guitar. Hope the voice recovers soon.
Cheers

thank you, len
the voice thing might be several issues, not the least being i might have to start from scratch with my voice and retrain it... for some reason, where muscle memory tells me a note is, my voice disagrees. hopefully, with some serious work, and a little time, i will be back on track, i thsnk you for your kind words, and well wishes.

commending you for this very creative piece. Your guitar blazes. Liked the acoustic bits too. Nice.

thank you
this was the first time i ventured so deeply into loop land... it was alot of fun, and kind of refreshing. the structure came easy, and the symphony part with the eastern vocals was the most fun for me....

Dude You So Freakin Rule!!
Even if your voice is not soaring over a track, your guitar does!! Awesomely impressive and I love the beats and that break!! I will be downloading this and be playing it in my iPod tonite as I ride home on the subway (I am at work now). Thanks for directing me here! This may serve as inspiration enough for me to finally post something new...but as I listen to this song for the second time, I get jealous. I love the "clearness" and "cleanness" of your mix. Mine never come out like this and the guitar playing is just phenomenal. My fingers will not move like that. Awesome post!! Cannot wait to hear the next one!! And get that voice back!! There's nothing like listening to you sing....well actually, there's your guitar playing....but both of them together and in harmony is just pure sonic delight!

Such an array
of different textures and layers going on here. A really well produced song. Blistering playing with so many great sounding guitars, this is a great track from the first to last note.

thanks, Tokai
it has been a while since i posted anything, so i just got interested in a couple of cool loops, then proceeded to go crazy...
my favorite solo was the middle hip hop section, cause i used an octaver to give it a lower register underneath... thanks so much for stopping by

Allen, spectacular job. Absolutely love it. The production and playin are top shelf. It kept my interest thru out. Lots of little surprises, and sonic treats tucked in here. The vocal and guitar together around 3:30 and then into that one last headlong push, thats my fav part.

thank you, karma
i just couldnt do a song without throwing in some fast heavy stuff, and it seemed to tie the song together nicely... i am finding out tons of stuff one can do to manipulate basic loops and tones in logic... this program is going to keep me both busy and guessing for a long time to come.
and thank you for the production props.personally, my main approach to mixing is to go with the music as is, and only level things out. i do small eq's, and only reverbed the drum parts for effect. the guitars are all courtesy of the line 6 podx3. coupled with the gearbox app, i can tweak tones, add and subtract effects with a click of the mouse on the fly, and it makes recording effortless. and, the tones are magical. it is the biggest gun in my arsenal....

Oh ya!
I really enjoy the "stabbing effect" the keys have, but the solo breaks were "fat!" as hell dude! Did you play software instruments or use all loops? Love the guitars. Man, you make that Pod convincing!

I hear you singing ALL over this bro.

The clarity and drive of the mix is outstanding!

I love how the breaks pull you in.

Impressive!

thank you, chris
as you know, my vocals are not where i need them to be, and a couple of days ago, bored, and without any real song ideas, I started browsing through my loops section. not really ever using them, i did not bother to see what logic had to offer in the way of loops. i started pulling a bunch of similar synth loops onto the workspace, and it got to be so much fun, i could not stop. i started transforming the DoD loops, and added some drums. before i knew it, i had a pretty cool tune on my hands....
and in all honesty, the hardest part of this whole song was the main solo section. it took a dozen takes to get it nice and tight. it was driving me crazy, missing one phrase, or a half a note...! in the end, i was really happy with the final product.
thanks for such a nice comment, brother.
and to answer your question, the only thing i Play on this is the guitar solos. the rest is all loops.

Cool...
nice shredding. Good layering and changes in dynamics. Pretty loud in my speakers, but I guess it's loud music.

thank for listening
i am not a huge fan of having songs be brickwalled and blaring, and i tried to get alot of dynamics inot this mix. the loops are kind of loud, i noticed, and to be honest, my levels were really low on alot of tracks, like into the low end of -12. the bass was something i wanted to get thumping in this one, as i wanted a city feel. thanks for taking the time to comment. it is much appreciated.

thanks
ironically enough, i have been working on my voice, and just when i was on the verge of reaching high notes, and good sustain, i got sick, and lost my voice completely..... but, thanks for the good vibes, and i should be in the studio soon, screaching away!

hell YES
this is absolutely spectacular. screaming guitars, excellent harmonies, well-configured drum track, all mixed to perfection...this is where i want my music to be. i'm an instrumentalist simply because i can't sing (nor do i have a mic) and i'll tell you this: you pulled this one off flawlessly. excellent work sir. faved.

Resistance is Futile
The title caught my attention (geek in the house!!) Great tune, catchy from word go! Reminds me a bit of Satriani (not an insult, I'm referring to his couple of albums where writing took precedence over wanking) with some Reznor thrown in for good measure. Very well done. Love the bridges!
