Lyrics
Key [ A- ] Welsh Girl. [written 2008] JJ.
I spent my time drinking my wine with a Welsh girl,
She caught my eye and took my breath away,
Summertime blues and catching the news with a Welsh girl,
Some things you learn, some things you don’t forget.

Softly spoken like an evening breeze,
Warm enough to melt a Winter freeze,
Memories of hippy days – never lost there magic stays.
Carved inside my heart for evermore.

Just like in a dream she’d call my name,
Thoughts of her return time and again,
Places that I still recall – I have seen and all in all,
Each one tells a tale you can’t ignore.

I spent my time drinking my wine with a Welsh girl,
She caught my eye and took my breath away,
Summertime blues and catching the news with a Welsh girl,
Some things you learn, some things you don’t forget.

Watching as the sunset’s in the West,
Amanita mascaria does the rest,
Sky a blaze of red and blue – every moment spent with you,
Breathing fire it burns another day.

I spent my time drinking my wine with a Welsh girl,
She caught my eye and took my breath away,
Summertime blues and catching the news with a Welsh girl,
Some things you learn, some things you don’t forget.

True story? :-)
Solid song musically and lyrically. Had to look up "amanita mascraria" - oh, happy days ;-)

Your playing is always perfectly judged. Never too much or too little. The professionalism shines through.

Interesting panning on the "chorus".

Cheers

Hello Dick
thanks for your kind comments - the title it's self - Welsh Girl- was inspired by the tv series - Gavin and Stacey - however the lyrics of the song were drawn from very fond memories I have of the sixties which were spent in the Welsh castle of Kidwelly -AKA Baby Boot - in West Wales. We would drive there from Cardiff and stay there for the whole day. This all took place in the Summer of 1965, probably my favourite year.

Bye the way - we didn't know about mescaline then and to be absolutely honest I've never actually tried it but I've been told that there's nothing quite to equal a sunset enhanced by it. The amanita was a bit of poetic license! nevertheless it's still my favourite mushroom.

John.

Amanita mascaria
Had to look that up - interesting!
Another wonderfully entertaining and catchy song (touches of the Dai appearing too). Liked the way your vocal sound changed slightly from verse to chorus. Great stuff as always. Downloaded. Thanks.
Cheers

Love the chord structure of this..especially the way the chorus is split in two.
The chord change / add really works well

I am Welsh, or at least half Welsh - the other half is a mixture of English and French so I'm told. Thank you for listening and taking the time to comment. Helps to make my day now I'm grazing in the field for much of my time.
