Description
This is a song I dedicated to Jon Anderson (its development was achieved through sketches of two songs presented to Jon, and input from our very own Cameron). It was previously uploaded here as "Rhapsody in Paradigm" last October under my pseudonym of Eikonoklastes (sorry for being duplicitous). Upon receiving the completed "The Healing (Rhapsody)" as my Holiday/Happy New Year gift to him.

Many of you may not know that Jon Anderson of "YES" fame suffered an Asthma attack last May. He hd been diagnosed with acute respiratory failure and was told by doctors that he needed to rest and not work for a period of at least six months or suffer further health complications. The 40th Anniversary Tour was postponed.

In a 28th of November article, White said, "Jon is slowly recovering. He's had four or five operations, but he wouldn't be ready to go out for eight or nine months.

Anderson appears to be focusing on his solo career and some other collaborations, but it is unclear how his protracted ill health has effected plans.

More on Anderson: Where Are They Now - Jon Anderson

Having been in contact with him for over a year now, and collaborating on several musical projects, our work has resumed amidst his healing process.

I recently received this email from Jon:
...always love your work.......I've just got my studio up and running.......so the new Year will be crazy with work to finish.....i love your 'Journey' work......I will sing it soon......just tried to call you.....happy everything....jon (my kid was on the phone at the time!) He also sent me an attached mp3 of his song, "Ave Verum" from the "Toltec" album.

Peace, and thanks for listening,
Alimar

I am listening...
... to your piano duet with Kassia. WONDERFUL. You have always impressed me with your playing. And now, your combined efforts have been fulfilled from your seed planted last Spring.

This is wonderfully sweet and playful. I love the woodwind interplay, great use of the bassoon. And then the nice build up to the brass and piano. I love how this moves so effortlessly from mood to mood. Great use of rhythm and percussion to help keep it all flowing. Great composition - what a wonderful gift for someone!

Great to hear from you again
So "Alimar" this is, but much more polished than the earlier version. Brass is tough, but you did nicely with this, great trombones and trumpet work and sounds. Great transitions, you just slide from one to the next, loved the little wiggly boogie part there near the end. Didn't care too much for the sequencing/fade at the end, but I assume this is part of a larger work? Thank you for sharing a peek at what was going on with Jon, I wish both of you the best, and a healthy return in the new year.

You're a great commenter...
... and musician. Thanks for your in depth commentary. You are a valuable asset to this community. I agree about the ending... it will eventually develop into a "larger work" including variations of other "sketches" in the works. As more develops, and the time comes (with Jon's vocals on other comps), and permissions are granted, I am anxiously awaiting the ability to share that work with my MacJams family.

hey LMR
so good to see you around again. this is beautiful. some really incredible work in the arrangement here. loving all of the little trills. what's really appealing to me is the dissonance that lies just beneath the surface at times. great stuff.

Thank you for this update. I was a Yes fan back in the day. Haven't heard or followed in many years. The piece itself is beautiful and moody. I must listen after work when I can hear the full fidelity. What instrument pack are you using for the orchestral instruments?
Thanks again,
Stephen

Triumph...
of the human spirit is the message I get from this fine piece of music. Very moving and nicely done.

Inspiration is to be found everywhere, often even in desperation, where we might least expect it. As William Aughey observed, "God brings us into deep waters not to drown us, but to cleanse us."

I'm glad to see you back in the swim again Al and wish both you and Jon the very best. ;)

News
This is now a very polished piece and very appropriate as a dedication to the always positive Yes front man. It was sad to read the news about Jon A. I haven't been able to keep up. I hope Jon gets well, and that all is well with you too. Good to hear your creative and lovingly played music again.

Thanks
Bill
