Ode to My Love

ODE
1. A poem intended to be sung.

This song is about me at 17, I had a special friend. She sat in front of me in nearly every class, all four years of high school. I called her my alphabetical friend because teachers assigned seats by last name. She was very popular, but always included me in her circle of friends. During class I would tell her jokes, and draw cartoons, which made her brurst out in laughter. She never let the teachers know that I was the cause. Her remedy was to hand me Her books after class then slap me in the back of my head, again bursting out in laughter. But it was during my senior year where the song begins. I had a dream that she kissed me, I woke up with tears in my eyes, and could not fall back to sleep.
I feared having to see her, the song continues. As she walks into the room I got chills looking at her. As she came closer I see her face, I wanted to hug her. When she went to sit down I saw her eyes gleaming. All the years we shared as friends were going through my mind. The guitar solo is my confusion, the last note of the solo is my crying out in pain.
The last verse is the lingering reminder every time I hear your name “Rosemarie” I felt like I could not be with out her. The story continues, but that is outside the scope of the lyrics.

Listed are the lyrics, just follow the acoustic guitar and you will hear our song.

Lyrics
I felt your kiss while dreaming, awaken to my gentle weeping.
Cause everything that I do girl, and everything that I pursue.
Is cause I fell in love with you.

You walk into the room babe, chills do run up and down my body.
Cause everything that I do girl, and everything that I pursue.
Is cause I fell in love with you.

With lips so sweet, and hair so fine. Girl I’ll do what it takes to make you my love.
And we’ll build a world that will last forever, just me and you, cause I love You.

I when I see your face girl, I want to wrap my arms around you.
Everything that I do girl, and everything that I pursue.
Is cause I fell in love with you.

And as I see your eyes gleam, memories of you flash all around me.
Everything that I do girl, and everything that I pursue.
Is cause I fell in love with you.

With lips so sweet, and hair so fine. Girl I’ll do what it takes to make you my love.
And we’ll build a world that will last forever, all this, for you.

Guitar Solo:

And when I hear your name, Rosemarie, I feel I can’t live life with out you.
Everything that I do girl, and everything that I pursue.
Is cause I went and fell in love with you.

Wonderful composition and arrangement
Wonderful composition and arrangement. The song is very deep and touching. The Classical guitar sounds great. Are you using software instruments? The electrical guitar sound good as well however it needs some work on the effects. Great Job.

Effects
I am using a combination of software instruments and real. The drums are played from my Yamaha drum pads. The guitar real but is a series of takes, it took a lot of work to remove the clicks and hiss. The Piano is real time, so is the bass (although there is some cut and paste to hide my many mistakes). Nevertheless everything is me! Was the mix to dry or to wet?

Thank You!

By the way, it is a true story. The picture is me and Rosemarie our senior year 1977.

Lovely!
I couldn't help but sing along as I listened, but not aloud. A charming story (which I hope has a happy ending) and music to melt anyone's heart. A pretty melody. Very nice.

Beauty and melancholy love.
All the elements are there. And they are so well represented in your song. What a tender and wonderful story and the song reflects the gentle but passionate love as well as the comfortable beauty that emanates from Rosemarie. My eyes were blinking. I think you touched a spot that many of us can identify with.
Very nice,
Stephen

You, too?
So, I wasn't the only boy to fall in love with the alphabetically-placed girl seated in front of me in the school classroom?

I'm curious. Is this sweet song a piece you wrote all of those years ago? Or are daydreaming about a past romance here?

Your presentation is nicely played and cleanly articulated, with all of the various musical pieces fitting harmoniously together.

Alphabetical Friend
This was written 10 years ago after talking to a good friend about high school friends. I never told Rosemarie how I felt about her, I thought it would be better to remain friends. The photo above is from our yearbook class of 77 and that is me and Rosemarie. I am glad you enjoyed the store and song! I hope this brought back good memories of your alphabetical friend.
