Description

I wrote this tune a while back but could never get it right, probably because I think that lyrically it's the most real song I've written. You have to know something about the comic book Wonder Twins to get all the lyrics, especially the last verse, but I think that anybody who ever thought they had something perfect and then woke up and suddenly it was all NOT perfect can relate. Musically, I don't know, it's super hero funk or something. Jens Lekman gone wrong.

What a lyric and what a sad song. If you didn't put the horns in there at the end, I might've sulked for the rest of the day, but they are just cheerful enough to allow me to get through this.

Hey Tempie, I only remember the Wonder Twins animated cartoon with the Super Friends - Can I assume the comic book was the same? I sometimes call my two the Wonder Twins as they wreak havok on my house - Wonder Twin powers - ACTIVATE! Form of a Hurricane - Shape of an Ice Bulldozer!! Didn't they have a monkey or something?

This has such a subtle and relaxed introspective feel to it. Very different, but very enjoyable. Your soft vocals are strong and well sung.

I've downloaded this just in case things start looking too great and I take my life for granted.

yeah it's my "sad" song...I don't know what it says about me that the only way I can talk about anything serious is by way of a hanna barbera cartoon.

zan was always water, and jayna was a bird alot of the time, hence the last verse. They didn't have their own comic - they were in the Super Friends comic but as a kid I mostly watched them on tv.

took a while to get the music right but I think it works. glad you liked it dude, I was channeling jens leckman for the vocals.

	guitar thanks Feter. glad you liked the guitars (secret - one of the distorted rhythm guitars is a mic'd acoustic that I later applied the distortion affect to because I didn't like the acoustic sound and didn't want to have to record it again and lol it sounded great - serendipity! 	Great Love the lyrics on this (I'm a sucker for a melancholy song!) and especially like the delivery of the lyrics. Great arrangement and mix, too. man I had not heard that Tom Waits tune for a few years and listening to it just brought back the way that when you are young the drama of every experience is so magnified by your expectations...it's a sadder song than this one but def. in the same vein. said it before and i'll type it again, MJ is very cool for this stuff like this. thanks for sending me back to that tune!
