Description
I wrote this tune a while back but could never get it right, probably because I think that lyrically it's the most real song I've written. You have to know something about the comic book Wonder Twins to get all the lyrics, especially the last verse, but I think that anybody who ever thought they had something perfect and then woke up and suddenly it was all NOT perfect can relate. Musically, I don't know, it's super hero funk or something. Jens Lekman gone wrong.

Lyrics
I used to think that we were kinda like the wonder twins
each born with the form of the other within
apart we were nothing, but together we'd win
I used to think that we were orphans left on rural routes
raised by a kind and childless couple in a midwest town
and the league of justice know just where to find us somehow
but I don't think that we're gonna win this time
the bad guys are just too smart and strong
they got that giant rocket they've been working on
and I guess we were just fooling ourselves
yeah I guess we were just fooling ourselves
I used to think that we were born to love and happiness
we'd just shift our shapes and clean up any kind of mess
but i've gone down the drain now that you've left the nest
each born with the form of the other within
apart we were nothing, but together we'd win
I used to think that we were orphans left on rural routes
raised by a kind and childless couple in a midwest town
and the league of justice know just where to find us somehow
but I don't think that we're gonna win this time
the bad guys are just too smart and strong
they got that giant rocket they've been working on
and I guess we were just fooling ourselves
yeah I guess we were just fooling ourselves
I used to think that we were born to love and happiness
we'd just shift our shapes and clean up any kind of mess
but i've gone down the drain now that you've left the nest
