right, where to start? ... well, firstly, i'd like to apologize to everyone for my lack of participation recently, i guess i've had a crappy couple of months and just haven't been thinking straight. I've also had a nasty case of writers block of late (which explains the lack of submissions) along with a lovely bout of Impetigo, and partial blindness in my right eye...greeeat..
Anywho, i sat down today with the intention of actually completing one of my 'new songs' i've been struggling to finish, and once again (as usual) i ended up scrapping that idea and just writing a whole new one altogether (and, as usual, it's a miserable song!!! haha - sorry folks!)
So as some of you know already, i got a brand spanking new SE Electronics 2200a condenser microphone for xmas & b-day (19 two days ago - arghh!!!!) and this is my first real sesh on it. I LOVE IT. The signal-to- noise ratio is freakin amazing, (unlike my M-Audio Luna - which is a great mic, but picked up too much 'room' when i tried to pump it for those 'in-your-face vocals) so you'll have to forgive me if the vocals are a little hot in the mix (they sound alright to me, but i'm mixing on a cruddy hi-fi)
I also took the opportunity to actually make an effort with the production of this one. I even draped some blankets behind the mic to minimize reflections, and took some time with the levels. The only problem i have with this mic (and not a bad thing) is that it is SO sensitive, and clips easily when singing loudly (and i'm using allll the mic techniques i know of) but this isn't a big deal, as i'll be looking to get an ART PRO VLA2 tube compresser for this bad-boy as soon as i get a little extra money (or any money at all for that matter)
The 'harmony' bits at the beginning were really just an experiment (something i've really never explored), but i quite liked them, so i decided to leave them in there, even though they're a bit random! This song is not finished - what a surprise - and i intend to add stuff to it later on (including a re-arrangement, epic string section and something at the end) so it's still in it's early stages. However, as with most of my stuff, it's just been so long since i've posted anything, i thought i'd put it up anyway!
A belated Happy New Year to you all, i hope '09 brings good things to all you amazing people here at Macjams!!!!
Hope you like,
Mckenzie

Lyrics
I'd tell you everyday,
the words i wanna say,
but all you ever do is spit them out,
you do it everytime,
it seems you wanna fight
a war with everything you've ever loved
Even though, you're not that unaware,
you carry on, it feels like you don't care,
"It's all my fault" well this weight is too much to bare,
in my own love at war
A jukebox symphony,
i dedicate to me,
and all us long-lost lovers drink to that,
cos you've chipped away my soul,
and left an empty hole,
now all my lips touch with is alcohol,
etc
the words i wanna say,
but all you ever do is spit them out,
you do it everytime,
it seems you wanna fight
a war with everything you've ever loved
Even though, you're not that unaware,
you carry on, it feels like you don't care,
"It's all my fault" well this weight is too much to bare,
in my own love at war
A jukebox symphony,
i dedicate to me,
and all us long-lost lovers drink to that,
cos you've chipped away my soul,
and left an empty hole,
now all my lips touch with is alcohol,
etc

Sir you vocals just kill on this. So well done. I really love the intro sound.
