Wasn't Enough

Description
I fooled with a GarageBand loop (70s Ballad Piano 05) until I came to this. Now that I've been studying chord progressions and some music theory, I plan to deconstruct it.

I just listened to "A Tale Of Two Pianos" by kassia w/magnatone (http://macjams.com/song/49295) and was inspired to produce this out (and perhaps add a string arrangement). I'm toying with some lyrics, too.

Lyrics
when I met you
I think I bet you
we'd marry someday
outside Bodega Bay

California sun
bike riding fun
along breaking waves
on sun setting days

I guess sometimes, come the bad times
when even the best love wasn't enough

you tried on dresses
around my drinking messes
we ended random fights
with snuggling good nights

promised what I could
and really meant I would
but didn't move as fast
assuming you could last

I just felt times, when there was bad times
even though I tried, it wasn't enough

now I know regret
we didn't keep my bet
it crashed so soon,
so hard, so cruel

I guess the good times, weren't more than the bad times
and thought we tried, it wasn't enough

well done
can't recognize any GB loop here. Very soft and well balanced.
Thanks for sharing.

thank you
I saw a movie last night-- Gran Torino-- and the closing song made me think about putting vocals to this. It was inspired by a break up last year, so I'm pretty sure I'll be able to draw some lyrics pretty easily.

All of that was made with one loop?
I couldn't tell at all. That must have actually been a lot of work, manually taking apart that loop :) It sounds very nice, it's soothing and there's enough variation for the song to not get dull. Nice job

Thanks
It was a bit of work, but I'm finding myself very inclined to the mathematical and patterned work it takes to pull apart and put together GarageBand loops. I've always been a little neurotic about organizing things.

hey i think you've got a really cool start here! i'm not familiar with what the original loop started as, but I like where you've taken this. and great velocity and dynamic variation to make it sound really played. do you have plans to develop this into anything? I think you could take this many places - I'm excited to see what you do with it. Great job and welcome to MacJams!

thank you for the welcome
Yes, I got some inspiration last night on how to flesh it out. It may take a little while, but I'll let you know when I have the next rev ready.
