Evergreen Dance

Description
This piece is all about building a simple phrase into something a little more complex as it moves along. When I started doing this from scratch I envisioned the mighty evergreen swaying in the wind, keeping time to the music, the tree spirits happily dancing around the mighty trunk. I hope the repetitive nature of this piece does not bore you...

Nice imagery!
This is nice! I especially like the high strings that come in at around 0:45. I kept thinking that the repetitiveness would annoy me, but right before that point you added something different so I kept listening :). Besides, I love repetitive music, so that's not always a bad thing in my mind. Love the imagery of the evergreens swaying; made this so much fun to listen to!

dancing
spirits and tree fairies. what a wonderful way to start the day! I love the layers on this piece, painting a portrait of more and more creatures of the forest hearing the joy and coming to join in the dance. great use of voices, you blended them perfectly with the instrumentation. this is a wonderful composition dave. thanks for sharing it here!

Ent Dance...
(Ok..so I'm a Tolkien geek)....but I love the imagery that you set for this piece in your song notes. I can see the boughs swaying :)

I love the idea of taking a theme or motif and building upon it -- you've done a wonderful composition around that idea. Thank you for sharing this here :)

in a word... warmth
Maybe it is the choice of strings, or the EQ, but this felt "warm" (a good thing) right from the beginning. Nice theme loop to build from... the intro was right on the verge of too long without much change, and then it all started to build and come together, and was quite listenable and enjoyable. Great choice of instrumentation, nice and rich and clear, even when when everything's pumping. This does have a nice swaying quality, and I can sort of imagine a gentle wind making the giants dance, or as Cat says, perhaps the dancing giant Ents are CREATING the breeze.

Gabriel meets Ravel in ..

.. Middle earth...interesting. Build up works well .. just a little too drawn out .. I'd have wanted to get to the orchestral drums a bit sooner... but I'm impatient :o)

Thanks for sharing, enjoyed this.
