Last Days 'til Next Summer (with lead)

Description
This is an attempt to create a rhythm guitar feel to back a California beach rock & roll type song. I'm using GarageBand and composing without pre-built loops.

I'm not sure the drum kit sounds complete, or convincing. I'm also wondering if the lead melody is too much to put vocals over. Also, does this need a bass line?
