Description
This is just something I've been playing around with for fun. It's nothing more than 4+ minutes of self indulgence, but it cooks along pretty good so I thought I'd throw it out here and see what y'all think about my madness.

Anyone with any ideas for lyrics or other additions, give me a shout and we'll see where it goes.

Have fun, and I hope you enjoy.

Hey Ed...
this needs some Alannah type vocals... Seems like the perfect fit!

Thanks Mark
Maybe we can steer her over for a listen and see if something comes to mind for her. That's one of the reasons I posted it was to see if it stirred up the creative juices in someone.

Thanks again for dropping in to listen and the idea about Alannah Mark.

Be well and be cool,

I've been on holiday from doing music for about a month, but I had to get back into it so I slammed this together over the weekend to get my feet back in the water.

Glad you enjoyed it my friend and I appreciate you sending along the great comment. Now if I could just get Alannah to take a listen and come up with the vocal and lyrics we'd be all set.

Thanks again Feter

You picked
the right genre to make me listen. I like instrumentals, and you have enough going on in the guitar to leave as is. Reminds me of a background music for one of those hip new detective shows.

I guess that it could be used for something like that. Maybe I should rename it something like "Dr Who get the Shaft" or whatever.

Glad you got a kick out of my madness Brian. Thanks again for listening and the great comment.

I had to do something to break the ice and pull myself out of the Funk, (pun intended), I was in. Hadn't felt like doing anything since before Christmas and needed to break the spell.

I love funk and this is certainly funky... Really into that groovy bassline there along with the screaming guitar. Works really well.

I get a big kick out of doing one of these, but I really need to exercise a little more patience and wait until I've written and done the vocals on them before I post them. Although on "Gimme Back My Mojo", I don't think I would have even come close to what Mick Reeves and Gene (Farfor44) came up with for that song.

But it's a lot of fun, and if it gets a nod, a smile, a tapping foot, or any other pleasurable reaction, I consider it worth the time.

Take care Bill and be cool,

Ed

That may be true my friend, but madness is still madness. I often tell my captors, "I listen to the voices and 8 out of 10 time they say "Don't Shoot". I always have the urge to ask, " Why not".

Thanks for listening my friend and the kind words. Glad you enjoyed it.

Cool
I said it before and I'm probably going to say it again about a hundred times, but your range is so impressive. You really know how to express yourself musically in a range of genres. Love the percussion and bass on this, lovely depth and sass, and then the ripping guitar on top of that - outstanding. Cinematic - fast cars and bright lights. Lovely, grooving stuff. This is very cool. Nicely done. This is more like a polar plunge than toes dipped in water! Cool. Peace.

I was in the doldrums and have been for better than a month. I finally decided that the only way out was to just start to do something, even if it was wrong. So over the weekend I started this project with no idea where it was going to end up. I would try something and then listen to it. Keep it or throw it away and then try something else. I did this over and over all weekend long until I was satisfied I'd worked my way out of the pit I was in.

This is the results of being in the pit. I'm glad you liked it my friend, and I appreciate all the encouragement you've given me since I've been here at MacJams. your comments are one of the things I always look forward to Dave, they mean a lot to me, especially the critiques.

A little bird ...
.. whispered in my ear and sent me this way .... this could be a fun tinker ... however, of late I seem to have misplaced my mojo ... I tried to work on some stuff recently and it all came out oh so wrong .... but these things tend to switch up here and there ... so who knows ... I may put this in the "tinker" file and see .... but wouldn't want to disappoint anyone by committing to anything ..... nice work Sloparts !

Go for it and don't be shy this thing is dying for you to make it your own. If you do come up with something that makes you feel good you can either mix it to this, I'll send you a master, or I can mix it in with the take tracks for a proper mixing and then remaster it.

Either way, thanks for the listen. I'm glad you liked it enough to even consider the possibilities.

I really the way you
used the drum loops, at least I think they are drums loops. Especially at first, cool guitar sounds and the funky synth!
The lead guitar coming in later is really cool rockin to me. I know you are called slowparts, but this sounds like a real hip younging playin cool sounds here!

Quite funky, almost making me laugh your getting so down and funky! It's almost your dead set to funk the ones that can't be funked :) And you get em out of the dance floor, they just have to because that tune is so infectious!

What a great ending too! Really !! Tops ! Please be proud of that ending as well. One of the best endings i've heard here Ed!

Thank you Bill
Yes the drums, and bass are all loops. I started out on this one as an exercise to get me out of the "Funk" (pun intended) left over from all the holidays. I was having attitude problems getting back to making music, my Muse had left me for another musician, and I was generally feeling down and out.

To my surprise, when my Ex-Muse got wind of what I was working on she came back begging to be a part of it. After much discussion I relented and let her take the lead on where to go with this one. Now I'm so happy she's back and look what she brought me as a coming home gift. Can you dig it Bill.

Thanks again for listening my friend, and for the very kind words. I'll pass along your comments to my Muse, she'll love it.

Be well and be cool Bill,

Ed

I went to your page to try and find out your name and get to know a little more about you. While there I listened to "Water Journey". Nice track and in some ways a little like a Radio Play (for lack of a better name for it) I did as a Halloween track this year. Check it out if you're in to this kind of thing, it's called "Halloween on Ice"

Anyway, I'm glad you liked this one and the way it came out. I do very much appreciate you taking time to stop in and listen, as well as the kind words you left for me.

Take care, be well, and be cool my friend,

Hello my old friend
Glad to see you stopping in for a visit and I'm also happy you found something in this piece you liked.

I agree with what you say, and I'm sure you know the old saying Maurice, "Youth is wasted on the young". Well it's true. We may have snow on the roof, but there's still a lot of fire in the furnace.

I was trying to go for a Bass-Drum solo at the end, but it needed to have something else to put an ending on the song. So I compromised and use to different Bass-drum solos instead. then I threw that little synth bit at the beginning and the end for continuity.

Thanks again for stopping in for a listen Doug. I appreciate the kind words and am happy you enjoyed it.

Rippin' Good Fun
The Fun-Key can open the door.

Lots of nice elements in here, Ed. Lots of possibilities for interpretation. I personally think a Barry White/Isaac Hayes-type vocal treatment would work very well with this musical bed. Love some of those hot guitar riffs. ;)

Yeah, I can hear an Isaac Hays or Barry White vocal on this in my head. Just not sure I could pull it off but maybe I'll try something and see how it sounds. Thanks for the input and idea Joe, and for the kind words.

Some cool riffs there. Especially the opening one is killer.

In general I think there's a bit much background in this track. Too many gaps between the -- otherwise quite tasty -- solos.

Glad you came over for a visit and a listen. It is a little bit retro, isn't it? But then again, so am I. Since I haven't been "in the business" since 1995 I'm a little out of touch with where music is today. (a little out of touch with reality too come to think of it) As we speak I'm playing catch up on all the new music, but it's like I take 1 step forward and then 2 back since music has changed so much these last 14 years.

Thanks again for the kind words John, I really do appreciated them.

There's a little bit of everything on my page because I pretty much like all music if it's good. That doesn't mean I can do it all well, but I like to experiment with different sounds an rhythms so I just plead ignorance and go for it. Sometimes it works out, sometimes not, but it's always fun for me so I share the fun and hope somebody likes it.
