Description
This little number is a merger of two projects that I was working on simultaneously. One was a piece created using only the
FM3 Buddha Machine recorded "as is", and layered without other post production trickery. The other project was working on Bryn's recent particledots open collab 2.
I was pretty happy with what I had done with Bryn's tracks and was about to add vocals when I decided to see what would happen if I combined it with the Buddha Machine project.
Well - here it is. Either cool - or a terrible waste of some perfectly good particles. Regarding the particles: I added some keyed synths and some tweaked steel guitar loops to Bryn's tracks heading towards a pretty obvious Eno ripoff. Hence the title, and perhaps the sabotage.

the transition into the guitar and violin is beautiful.. it does have a eno feel more in the passengers era and I love that. The way you back out of it and proceed towards the ending is masterfull. A great piece of music Bud!

buddah of surburbia
Hey Kevin
This is absolutely wonderful and perfectly apt for the files I put up in the open collab. I have got to say the slide guitar is brilliant and is an amazing segue from the buddah noises into the particle noises. I love the overall feeling of a sparse landscape.
I am also very pleased that the source files are so recyclable (something I am very big on...reworking, reusing, reimagining possibilites...)

I actually think I might go back and start over from scratch combing the buddha and files. This is a bit cut and paste of my finished a.n. track and the in process buddha project. I'd like to give them an equal opportunity to play together without an inherent song structure.

everything merges
are there even words for this? it's SO COOL (sorry, that's not very original, but the best i can do in this altered state the song has put me in.) Love how it changes at about 40% through, the music starts to bleed in. Those high piano keys are really grabbing me. This is brilliant work - truly!

The stochastic oscillator is a momentum indicator used in technical analysis, introduced by George Lane in the 1950s, to compare the closing price of a commodity to its price range over a given time span.

Haunting
in a good way. Lovely stuff. I'm with Sisters on the swelling upsurge just after the minute mark - really effective. I had never heard of the FM3 Buddha Machine, but it sounds pretty cool, and that piano is excellent in the song. I think the mood here is inventive and engaging and combining the two musical directions into one was a stroke of genius. No less than I'd expect from you. Nicely done. Peace.

There was a certain amount of iChing randomness involved in this
chips fell where they were and I did a little shifting to pull it together - but the two pieces had a natural affinity. I di have to tune the Buddha Machine to find a suitable range. It has a dial for that purpose. Besides that - it's just a box with a volume dial and a button to select one of the nine loops.

needs some cinematograpy...
start out with some sparse faded black and white and sepia tone scenes. You know, the usual... empty playgrounds with spinning merry-go-rounds and plastic bags in alleys getting caught in the updraft, then during the change go to scenes of old people feeding pigeons layered on top of the pschycedelic-ink-filled balloons mashed up against a fisheye lens (like the background images in the Band of Gypsys concert DVD), then back to the plastic bag scene panning down to an old broken ceramic doll (the one with the eyes that move), laying behind a dumpster....fade out.. (I might have watched to much MTV in the 90's)

Of 2 minds about this
At least it's an interesting track. The more abstract sounds in the beginning are cool, and enough of them persist into the rest of the track. But that drum and definitely that fender piano are terribly traditional, and the contrast is a bit large for me. A more sparse drum (and probably complete removal of that piano) would have made a better gel with the soundscapes. But it's a cool experiment anyway with plenty of fine ingredients.

I take full responsibility
for both the drums and the electric piano. I hadn't thought of either as being terribly traditional myself but I guess its all subjective

I also like the collision of soundscape but i would certainly be interested in hearing further development
