Description
80's Dance:

This tune was original written in 1985, using a Casio CZ101, Roland MT-32, and a Roland MSQ-100 sequencer, (All you old guys will know what I am talking about). In 2001 I brought it into Sonar 2, and thought I lost it to the big crash of 2005. The story goes as follows, I was throwing out old computer hardware and found a small PC, I plugged it in and found hundreds upon hundreds of music files I had backed up. Among them was this track, a throw back to the 80's dance scene. I was tempted to use some loops to make it sound current, but I kept it in it's original style. This is the short version of "Looking For Love" Some were the lyrics are hiding in my garage!
Enjoy . . .

Yeah,
I remember the first electronic keyboard I had. My daughter still has it - it can't be destroyed. This is a really fun throw-back tune. It sounds very clean for being so old. Nice, danceable beat.

MT-32
I had a D-10, which was an MT-32 with a keyboard. Fun boxes.

And this is a fun track. It's kinda simple, based on just melody, arp bass, and some drums. I'm no expert on dance production, but I think some more sounds to fill up the arrangement would probably be good.

But then, this is definitely a throwback to vintage electronica, both in sound and material.

Your right.
Yes it could use some more instruments, and I considered doing so. But I left it in the original format. Originally memory was very limited on sequencers, so we could not do too much. After finishing the track, it was downloaded to cassette tape. So to keep the original feel of this piece I decided too keep it vintage. By the way were showing are age by mentioning our old instruments!
Thanks . . .

Have you got
a furry, orange vest and fence climbers and white bell bottoms? The lyrics are packed away, under those. It is great! Want to do the hustle? Thanks!

Looking For Love
Ooh nice! I love stuff like this. Reminds me of some Vince Clarke projects like the Robert Marlow album, and his stuff from Reset Records--which are among my favorites.

This really bounces
especially with the bass, cool use of pop synth as well. Nice combination, very infectious bass and beats!

My son-in-law
... keeps trying to explain the difference between hardware synths and software synths. I told him it sounded like the old tubes verses solid state amplifier discussion. He said "Exactly! Guys that have used hardware Synths can always hear the difference. I can hear the eighties sound in this, but I wouldn't know if it was the original equipment or not (and I am old enough to know better LOL).
Nice job,
Stephen

pretty cool.
like the synth sounds. Good background stuff that goes: buh duh-duhduh bummm...like it. i think this could be like a soundtrack in like home alone or some cool movie, where they get to a part when everything is starting together....the suspense is building up!
nice work
