Lyrics
i was just a dumb punk
wannabe rock star
dating my guitar
you were the shy girl
with the backpack
you sat in front of me in poetry class
and you liked dickenson
and i liked dickenson
and we were loaded guns
you in your bobby socks
and your high tops
hot rocks
on the jukebox
sweeter than a soda pop
spinning on the dance floor
in some redneck bar on the eastern shore
i was just a dumb punk
wannabe rock star
driving my dad's car
you were the smart girl
with the good hair
your daddy bought you a red corvair
and you liked ELO
and i liked ELO
and we were good to go
you in your bobby socks
and your high tops
hot rocks
on the juke box
sweeter than a soda pop
spinning on the dance floor
in some redneck bar on the eastern shore
the old guys sip their bud and watch you move
and for a moment they don't feel so far removed
from bobby socks
and high tops
jerry lee
on the jukebox
sweeter than a soda pop
spinning on the dance floor
in some redneck bar on the eastern shore

not realize it but your music is so infused with a "je ne sais quoi". (a great one imho). Definitely rooted in 60's pop culture, you manage to transcend that era's static recordings and come up with something really unique. This one has a slightly outside thread running through it, that makes it wonderfully edgy (screw the A&R guys). I also find myself looking forward to your solo's :-). There's always an element of pure passion in them. Raw if thats OK to say.
The chorus was sweet. Love that part
