World weary
Good song writing and restrained production.

Maybe it's me but I find it quite bleak. Unusually bleak for you John but I like it.

Cheers

Dick

hello Dick
you're probably right-this song is at least twenty years old and it wasn't really meant to be posted, what happened was that I had another song which I tried to upload and couldn't get it to. I must have tried about half a dozen times without success so in the end I thought I'd just try something else instead, which randomly turned out to be Soap Factory - more of a test than anything else - I didn't think that would work either but it did so I just left it.

thanks Feter
if I remember rightly I used a sort of panning effect on the electric piano,- as I said above the song is at least twenty years old but this recording is more recent.

I suppose it's a sort of protest song. We are all victims of soaps I'm sure.

hey this is great
havn't heard you before, just stumbled onto this and wow it's great dude. just perfect. instrumentation is straight "adult pop" but the vocal delivery is so poignant - love the contrast between the music and the lyrics/vox - reminded me a bit of Mark Knopfler. Really nice man.

Bleak yes...
But it has a carrying under beat that keeps it moving alone. I like it John!

I never thought much about this song
until a friend of mine said he liked it after hearing the original demo and so I decided to try and do a better recording.

It's more a case of getting something out of my system I think.

Thanks for commenting Marc.

Leon -
thank you Len, yes number 15 from deep within the archive and almost forgotten for ever. If I hadn't have had trouble uploading my latest it would probably never seen the light of day. I nearly posted one called - The ballad of Eamon Holmes - really, but thought I might get into trouble as it's very personal and to the point.
