Son of Erratic

Description
I played this for Janet, and you see her reaction. I guess I could have waited until she was out of the shower, but anyway. Well, I'm posting it nevertheless. On the off chance that you might have listened to my earlier tune "Erraticism Suite," you will hear many similarities in this one. This is a direct spin-off, hence the title. It's long-winded (as usual) and still a bit "suite-ish" but a bit more coherent I hope. Critiques are welcome.

Very creative
and I just love those drums! The guitar sounds are really phat. Great change in the middle section and again for the ending. Well produced and very balanced.
Great stuff!

Killer
Macjams just crashed as a i was posting this, so this is my second attempt. Mate this is just great, everything is in place and sounds so rich and flowing, what a musical web you have woven here. This is my favorite of all your piece thus far. The guitar could not sound better unless you where wired up to a 4x12 stack. Keys and bass fit so well against that drummer who you forgot to mention his name, wasn't Korean by any chance, sorry¡ I am afraid to mention Rush again, but i do love that band and really miss it when they played such brilliant music. The sound and production over all just makes me green with envy. All the patterns and textures are perfectly put together. Can we have the trilogy? I will be listening to this a lot more times... cheers.

Afraid to mention Rush?
Ha. I'm afraid to be compared to my heroes. Those guys are great. I think Lifeson is underappreciated. Thanks for your comments on the guitar tone. That neck pickup is nice. The drummer wasn't Korean, but actually I wouldn't mind. I kinda like that guy's spirit. As for the trilogy, hmmm, I don't know. This one kinda wore me out. Awaiting inspiration ... when's your next post due?

No mellotron.
Just Zebra. I'm not sure which part you mean ... but anyway. I like Bjork. No doubt some of her music is mixed in with my other role models. Thanks, Wummiman, for the comments. I always value your input.

Dream Theater.
Funny you should mention that. I just got a DT DVD as a gift, and I've been listening to them a lot lately. Again, I have found a band that reminds me to practice more. Thanks for listening and commenting.

You suck a person in and then,
you beat them into submission. This is hard and murderous rock. I don't want to escape it. I guess I'm suicidal. Wow! What an experience. You do amazing work. Thanks.

I suck?
Oh, wait ... I suck a person in. Well, I never thought about it that way, but I see what you mean. You know how they say to budding novelists, "You have to grab the reader on the first page"? Well, I never believed in that, even when it comes to music. I'm a patient listener, and I appreciate your patience in listening to this sonic jumble.

Nostalgic!
Reggie,

Very cool. Great build up. Love the balance between instruments. I love your solos -you must like Rush (Alex lifeson) - I can hear their influence. I too like prog rock. Keep it up and I would be curious to whether you might add vocals someday.

Excellent

Micky

A little Rushy?
Maybe. I love those guys ... their older stuff mostly. I'm no Lifeson, of course, but I have always admired his work. Thanks for listening and commenting, and keep those bluesy slide guitar gems coming. Oh, vocals ... ha, I wish I could. It would have to be someone besides me singing -- there's a city ordinance prohibiting me from singing ... even in my car.

cool
This is six minutes of pure awesomeness. So how does the Peet's Coffee contribute to the music? I suppose there a cup of espresso blend in most of my tunes also.
Excellent playing though.

Thanks Mr. Flash.
Peet's coffee has been proven in scientific studies to maximize the synaptic firing efficiency of the human nervous system. Yep, that's what I use. Unfortunately, it doesn't improve my music making "skills." Thanks for stopping by and giving this a listen, Nick.

Dude, your guitar sound pretty cool. I wish I could make my Digitech RP 21D could make those sounds (probably it can but I have no idea how to program it :P). But seriously, pretty amazing job on your guitars, its a really cool tune.

Hi, Rolf.
Thanks for coming by. I appreciate your comments. I don't know the RP21D. I rely a lot on the GT-8. I run it straight to the convertor. If I didn't, my neighbors would go nuts. I have spent a lot of time with the GT-8 instruction maunal, like with all the other goodies I use, but I still don't know everything it can do. I just twist knobs and push buttons a lot. I takes time away from playing, but sometimes that's OK.

Total Quality
Percussion is interesting, cool bass groove at around 2:00. Very in your face style overall. Cool guitar effect around 3:00. Very Well Done! Shifting moods-all that prog is about. Nice transitions. Now this sounds like a ton o' work.

top notch
Rarely listen to this kind of music, a bit too 'gritty' for my taste, and yet I was just immensely impressed by the rhythmical creativity and accuracy by the drums, bass and obviously the guitar. Sounds like a live performance in terms of energy, but has the precision of a studio recording. Especially liked the mellow beginning and everything after 4:25. Wow you guys are on top of your game! How many people involved here?! Do tell. Impressive.

Hi, Parichayaka.
I know this isn't your preferred style. I have heard your excellent work (which materializes at MJ all too rarely). That being the case, I am especially honored by your comments. Thank you. Oh, it's just me, by the way. Live guitar, software for the rest.

Great drum programming and overall arrangement as well. As mentioned before the song's complexity reminds me of Dream Theater.
