Description
Kevlar of JOAN used to send me cassettes of their music from time to time and then one day he told me I could hear them online at a place called MacJams. What an incredible revelation that was. Not only did I find their music but I also found a supportive community that loved what they were doing. JOAN had it going on - and I got to meet some fine folks and dip my toes in the water. Around the same time I got a new computer with GarageBand in it and immediately sat down and cobbled together my very first tune using loops only (I thought that was the coolest thing at the time) and throwing the work of one of my favorite poets on top. On June 21, 2005 I posted Periscope Graves and the rest is history.
Rather than go back and try to improve on my original effort - I decided to simplify it to a solo guitar and voice performance. One take, one track, no fixes.
It's taken me four years to finally keep it simple. WARNING - this is not a feel good number.
I love this place and the people in it. Thanks Jiguma for putting this festival together.
PS - this was posted before my mother recently passed away - not in response to that event.

Lyrics
The lyrics are from a poem by the esteemed writer James Tate.

Diviner
but brilliantly done esp considering that it was done in one take, well done Bud.
