Description
An emotional outburst of love for my new home in California recorded in 2006. The lead guitar was done by my bro' Andrew VanDusen, all the rest was me. Not remixed, not re-mastered, just offered up as it was when I joined and had no fans yet....sniff sniff.... And no, I'm not a Bible thumper, nor particularly religious, not have I have any real animosity toward either....just a modern agnostic post-dust bowl rock spiritual done in my own way, an homage to the most beautiful state in the Union.

Lyrics
Jesus & California
Philip VanDusen
2006
As long as there’s Jesus and California
As long as there’s Jesus and California
I won’t be afraid to tell you I was born there
I was born there
I carry my coffee and my sheets of rumpled stories
I carry my coffee and my sheets of rumpled stories
And I slick back my hair and walk in the sunset to my glory
To my glory
The earth smells like a piano on a ten year-old afternoon
The earth smells like a piano on a ten year-old afternoon
I slick back my hair and I will walk out to the moon
Walk up to the moon
I love the fields of California in the folds of my mother’s shirt
I love the fields of California in the folds of my mother’s shirt
And I love the dirt in my hands for what it’s worth
Jesus and California
