Description
I've been playing this progression of chords for a long time, but never made a song out of it. Usually I play it in E but there's a few songs that use a similar progression in that key so I used a capo on the second fret instead. Anyway, it's a pretty simple progression but I've always been intrigued by the mood it relays. It has a kind of suspended uneasiness about it. Oh - I couldn't figure out anything good for the bassline so I kept it very very simple. It's actually kinda crappy. If anyone wants to lay something down a little more complex, please let me know and I'll send you a bassless version.

The freaky bubbling water sounds were made with my guitar, a ton of reverb & echo and the KT Granulator. I wanted to go for a similar water sound to what The Beatles used in 'Yellow Submarine', but a little more spaced out.

Feedback and suggestions welcome.

Lyrics
You're such a pessimist
Cuz that's what's in demand
The cynics will surround you with their praise

So make another plan
The money is in hand
To pay off all the dead men
You have raised

So make the rain come
and take this all away
Make the rain come down
and take it all away

I can make you love me if you don't know

Any friend of marv's ...
... is a friend of name (we named out dog Marv). Wonderful chord sequence, and your voice sounds pure and clear - the harmonies, well, you gotta teach me how you did those. Sparse but full, this has a contempory feel, with a little bit of 60s mixed in.

marv
Marv's the best! Wish he weren't dead. Great name for a dog though! Does he smoke?
Thanks for the review steve. Good call on the 60s influence. I hadn't noticed it till I read that.

Cool Groove
This has a really cool groove. The acoustic guitar sounds great and I like the contrast or turn the song takes when the lead guitar comes in. The freaky bubbling water sounds were cool too.
Thanks Mike

Sweet!
Acoustic sounds GREAT. I really want to do live acoustic recordings. And this makes want to do it even more.

LOVE how this rocks out.

One of your best...and that's hard to do.

I like the progression too Ridd
I can see how it's been hanging around for a while. I also like the the two note backing on the acoustic - slight twilight zone feel. Overall a overall a very fine production.

I've literally been playing those chords for years but thought they were too close to a zep tune, a RHCP tune and an Extreme tune so I never made a song around them haha. Glad you like this kevin. Thanks for the review.

This is an excellent piece of music.
The bass fits just fine so I wouldn't worry about re-doing it.
And the acoustic sounds brilliant.
Wonderful

This is really good!
Very clean but thick guitar sounds, great performance on all levels. Maybe a little short, could be longer. Reminds me of BRMC, The Soundtrack of our Lives... Great post! /Mikki

make the rain come
The cool thing about this one is that it is definitely in line with your kind of "New Seattle" style but breaks just enough ground to feel brand new. Your vocals are standout, more soulful than usual for one, a little more expressive and out of the box. The harmonies are brighter than usual also, and that gives the tune a retro feel that does it good. And man that lead in the break out sounds SO sweet - I love that sound!

Progression
is perfect. Love the acoustic in the begening wow what a tone. I did start to worry however that there would be none of your signature Firebird. You dident let me down. As someone stated, longer would be nice. Great track!
