I agree... ...about the bass. I find bass the most difficult thing to get right. And I love good bass too. I wanted it to stand out, but yes, it's perhaps a bit in-your-face and wooden! My pleasure! About the bass again, I am not sure there's anything wrong with the actual sound, but rather the rhythm of it? I mean, the rest is so verrry ambient, and there comes the bass with a melody/rhythm..? Just a thought... Thank you! This was one of those "tunes in a day" were you have to stay at your keyboard and fiddle until it's finished. It took maybe 12 hours to put together. Trouble with doing that is when you listen the next day, you notice all sorts of mistakes! So I will remix it at some point. It's not too good for your back either! Cool rifts. I have no problems with the bass track. In fact, I like the whole thing, with the possible exception that it should be twice as long. I get a little distortion in my headphones, but they might be the problem, not the piece. Time to shell out for a decent set. So, my take on this is that it's something different for you (at least in recent memory), much more ambientish ambient. It has a big majestic sound, with a serious air about it, not as playful and upbeat as usual. And it's just my bias, of course, but I like it very much. Thanks D. Nice comments and much appreciated. I've not noticed any distortion or clipping, I must say, but as it was a "tune in a day", it may need a remix. [I'm also going deaf...] If you are thinking of buying new phones, then get something really decent: m-audio do some in-ear monitor phones that are just brilliant. Completely uncoloured. Downside: they cost more than my iPod, and you can hear every glaring mistake, more so than the Rokit monitors I have. I may do some more work on this and indeed make it longer. Okay Im not going out on a limb here. I think youre someone who has been at this a very long time (way longer than your mj history). The bass for me was tops especially that incredibly warm swell.. I lost myself in it and there was no hard re-entry .. no no this is very close to sitting perfect.. on my crappy comp speakers anyways! Thank you! A download is a huge compliment. As for my history, well it is as you see it! I've been listening to music all my life, of course, but only realised I could actually make some noise when I stumbled upon Soundtrack, then Garageband. I've moved on to Logic now and I love it! Some very nice sounds here, slowly merging in and out of each other, with a bit of edge to them as well. The bass is good for the dynamics but for me (with head phones) takes away attention from the rest in a slightly disturbing manner. A more drone-like bass could possibly work even better to my ears, but all in all a very sweet piece (which could have gone on for a couple of minutes more, yes)! Thanks!
