Mark's Note:

Once again for your listening pleasure a track released at Christmas time that Daniel took and ran with! We had a chat about having sons and the glory of watching them grow. The hopes we all have as parents to see them live in a world full of hope! Let's hope you folks get our sentiment....

Mark Deskin (MickD): Music and Production
Daniel Staniforth (Luna Trick): Lyrics and vocals

Lyrics
Orange (by Luna Trick)

The light comes down from a sinking sun
The blond haired boy is on the run
I watch the footprints form behind
A joyous flow between heart and mind

Youth is such a symphony
I hold these moments close to me
No matter what will come
No matter what will come

Orange, world gone Orange

A smile becomes the universe

Orange, world gone Orange
Orange, world gone Orange

Never let this bubble burst

Orange, world gone Orange
Orange, world gone Orange

He's laughing in the evening glow
Where endless colours run and flow

Orange, world gone Orange
Orange, world gone Orange

Orange, world gone Orange
Orange, world gone Orange
Orange, world gone Orange
Orange, world gone Orange

And these, my hopes and dreams
Just like the sacred river teems
It's time to let him go
A greater love to show
A greater love to show

Orange, world gone Orange
Orange, world gone Orange

Hope springs eternal
I like the way the vocals blur and blend, and how they're offset in places and move in and out of each other. Lush instrumentation and nicely produced. Always nice to hear your singing voice, Daniel.

It's a song shimmering with optimism and joy, and although I'm not a parent myself I can hear how sincere the sentiments are.

Glad you enjoyed Rebsie
This was a different take for me - optimism, brightness are not my usual or strong suite. But we found some common ground - and Mark insisted that I was the one for the job!

Hi Daniel......
This is another set of lyrics where orange is used. Do I read anything into this or simply the word orange?

The songs you put together are very good and entirely worth listening to. They have a style that I find stimulating and fresh.

Take care.

To be honest Paul
The song title was supplied by Mark - as was the subject matter - and I tried to work within those parameters.

Channeling Syd Barret?
Really nioe sound to this and lovely light sound on the acoustic. Loved the flute. Very trippy.

Cheers

Not intentionally Dick
But I'll take it... I was actually trying to take a vocal approach that was not my usual approach - so pleased if it worked somewhat!

I wasn't a huge Beatles fan - but I do have a thing for John Lennon - so this is pleasing!

Nice...
Yes. Beatles a bit, but I hate comparing apples and oranges. (A pun, assuredly.) This is a whimsy and so brilliantly fun. The high treble tessatura of the guitars keeps this upbeat and breezy from the very first note onward. I like the lyrics, too. They are filled with hope and a certain childishness. The little tin whistle is a very nice stroke sailing, at it does, above the play. Great thinking for orchestration there. ... The ending is too abrupt. A fade to nothing would be great. But I really like this piece nevertheless. Interplay of vocal lines adds to the carefree attitude of this composition and makes it even more compelling. Mark: great job providing the basic set-up. Daniel: well, he's on a major roll. Bravo to both of you.
Peace.

Thanks for a terrific comment Paul
You nail it perfectly. We were going for a nostalgic sense of youthfulness - not too sophisticated - but with enough maturity to know that the day won't last (setting sun etc.). The music is all Mark - and he is correctly praised here. I liked the whistle so much, I insisted that no vocals should cover this part - so it can act as a some sort of signifier, unspoiled. I'm not a fade out person at all - and you will never hear a Luna Trick song fade out - always a constructed ending for me. I do allow for it on collabs but Mark chose not to.

I am the thief... :( I am so sorry, you have taken the time to listen to several songs of mine and I have up until now neglected yours. This song is right on the spot with me at the moment since I am once again moving in these directions. Good performance, and very great vocal arrangements here... I need to listen to your other songs, this is really, really, great. I can't believe I've missed this. I feel embarrassed. /Mikki

Vibe, at least, this makes me feel like I am listening to Syd Barrett...
The adventure, the sense of joy.I really get envious of music with the spirit of cellebration. These are the kind of sounds I can“t make.So I am very happy that there others who can!

Great psychedelic rock
moved to a new era - with traces of Traffic and Donovan and well you know - those old folks. But there's something fresh and original about this that's really charming and fun. It's nice to hear a resurgence of psychedelia from young bands and folks here at MJ.
