Wintersong

Description
I both love and hate winter here in Minnesota. This song talks about those mixed feelings--the inevitable cabin fever one feels during the long slog and the exhiliration I sometimes feel just walking on a snowy day. Lyrics are sort of doggerel, free-style.

This is my first real GB composition, as opposed to just writing on guitar and using GB as a four-track. A simple, looping figure that builds. Trying to experiment with bringing in instruments, mixing elements, etc. The banjo is real, everything else G.B.

cool tunes
Nice work here. Wow, has a hint of a Harry Nilsson vibe. The arrangement is tasty. Just enough colors to keep it compelling. Your voice is cool. A hair "pitchy" in the harmonies at the end but small potatoes really. What's not to like? Great. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks
For the listen. I think you're one of the best singers I have heard on this site, so I appreciate the comparison to Nilsson, one of my faves from way back. Thanks for the feedback on pitch at the end. I went back and experimented with pitch control, hadn't done that before so I'm learning!

I like this....
The banjo fit just right for this this song. I like your vocals. I'm beginning to have similar feelings to yours about winter over here in Montana. I used to have all kinds of winter activities, lately I've been staying inside too much. However I did get to take my nephew on his first sledding day this year! Thanks for posting. These were some nice chilled vibes.

I know what you mean -
across the river here in Wisconsin. Record snow in Dec. Record cold in January. Finally getting our January thaw in mid February. The way you interwove the vocals gives it the ambivalent feeling you were going for, I think. Love the banjo! You did a great job with adding additional voices without overwhelming the vocals & banjo.

Nice
So nice to have banjo of this caliber to MJ ! Plus nice singing! Like how this moves, so nice country. Really delightful!
I have to say this is one of the best country sounds I've heard in while here.

Thanks for adding depth to the quality of country music here!
Very nice going! Way to Go!!!

Wintersong Celebration
Splendid. Harry Neilson comes to mind, your vocal remindes me of Me and My Arrow. Great guitar fills, you got Elvis guitar player again (see other post), terrific vintage feel. The keys are working for me in the arrangement.
I play some banjo, a Stealth model 1, you got gold tone indeed.
I'm liking this alot.
