Synful Orchestra
Hey all, so I just read through the comments left on my older songs, and sschedra was asking how the dynamics were done (usually midi has a hard time with even moderately convincing crescendi, etc). All the legato instruments I've been using come from Synful Orchestra, which is a suite of nicely flexible software instruments that I got after being hooked by the damned free trial period. It's a sample based set, but

1) It looks ahead to see where the line is going and changes the samples chosen for note endings so that the connections between notes sound more realistic, and

2) It is set up to respond to midi expression control, so you set expression to your mod wheel (or pedal in my case) and moving it up and down causes not just the volume to change, but also the instrument's timbre.

Anyway, I hate to sound like an advertisement, but I do hope other people go with Synful so that it keeps getting updated (most of the instruments on these recordings are scheduled to be replaced with higher quality versions, which is good because a couple of them really suck; I especially hate the trombone with a fiery passion). The French Horns, however, are totally sweet. Also note that the 5 above tunes do not use the look ahead feature or expression because they're still in progress. Everything here is velocity and note on/off. And that's the story with that.

Excellent
Excellent piece. Sounds great. I think someone should make a film around your soundtrack.
Thanks Mike
