Description:
This is my last submission for macjams for awhile. I enjoyed the professional criticisms and for some of the friends I have made here as well. It was truly a great experience being a part of a great community. Thank you...

What inspired this piece for me is that the Pat Metheny Group has been a great influence in my life with his style, creativity and compositions of some of the most beautiful music I have ever known.

As always I appreciate any feedback for song structure, music content and sound.

Oh NO! &mdash 11/26/04 - 10:02:45 AM
I hope it wont be a long break,
You have given me a lot of pleasurable listening from your
music here on Mj's. I am awed by your talent Patrick, and
this track is such an outstanding piece of music.
This could be Pat Metheny, (who is one of my all time
favorites).
Sounds and structure are soft and flowing and the fast
jazz perc in the background is perfect. Superbly produced.

Keep in touch

Slimmie.

Oh NO! &mdash 11/28/04 - 02:07:16 PM
Thanks Slimmie for your kind words. Not to worry though... short break from
Legato. Working on a new music project with old mates. Can't wait to play live
again :)

I'm still going to write the perfect song for you someday...

Preciousness &mdash 11/26/04 - 11:58:34 AM
Once the chord progression kicks, this piece is sunlight,
opened vistas, freedom, uplifting. During the "verse", it is
floating, misty, lightness. The over all impression is one
of grace, agility, expectation, preciousness. An excellent
arrangement that sounds like a live performance. Could
have gone one twice as long. Also reminded me of Pat
Coil and some of Oregan's works. ...I too am saddened
by your departure. Hope all is well and you hiatus will be
a fulfilling one.

Thanks Tobin, for your advice and criticisms I will always value them. I'll keep
listening for that CD you put out someday that will get released on iTunes. :)

Thanks Again.

Love PMG! &mdash 11/26/04 - 07:08:37 PM
Beautiful rendition of the PMG sound! I can easily hear this
as the next PMG release. Great progression to kick in the
song. Piano work is also good with all other layers. I too
wish it was a little longer.

Don't stay away too long. I enjoyed working with you on
our last piece.

PMG w/Legato Flava &mdash 11/29/04 - 03:17:16 PM
Very well done, Patrick. The piano solos are tasteful and
the "PMG" melody lines are addictive. Could use more
volume on the Voice - it's perfect where you put it in. The
percussion is driving the song w/o being overpowering. It
left me wanting more, as usual.

Good luck to you.

Like the tune &mdash 12/18/04 - 10:12:02 AM
It is one of best produced tunes I've heard on this site.
Nice, l am a fan of the flowing beat such as the tapping of
the drums in the backround. It sounds like rain and of
course that goes along with the sky picture I think.
Interesting suff indeed.

Thanks for posting the tune! Good luck.

top notch &mdash 01/25/05 - 06:27:26 PM
I too am a lifelong Pat Metheney fan and what you have
produced here wouldn't sound out of place on one of his
earlier albums...well done and a definite download for me

Well done &mdash 06/25/05 - 11:04:13 AM
Yeah, this piece definitely has a Pat Metheny feel to it.
Great job. I'm looking to create a song based on artist I
like and one that can be done in GB. Like how you keep
the tunes flowing.

Pat in his synclavier period, I see &mdash 07/27/05 - 09:43:56 AM
The sound, idiom, and general setup are vintage Metheny.
Well done!

What I'm missing is a clear melody. There's a whole lot of
burbling textures, bit of synth guitar solo, bits of piano solo,
but no real melodic hook that I will hum when the tune is
over.
